What a great thread, and a topic I am passionate about. I got rid of the internet at home, and got it back recently because my daughter wanted to do distance education. And I made sure only wired connection, in the living room with everyone walking back and forth, in and out, not isolated, each person hidden awat doing their own thing. I also have no tv service. Only a piece of furniture that you can watch a DVD on. No one uses it. I have no control over the phone use. Wasn't my doing, but it has had a negative effect on concentration.
I personally think it's the end of the world in many ways. Read Farenheit 451 again if you get the chance. Describes today.

Cameron, how expensive is living in Texas? Is it warm all year long? Are there earthquakes and hurricanes?

The cost of living in Texas varies on lifestyle as well as where you live. There is one site that lists a lot of cities and towns though I'm not sure how to compare those locations to a location in Canada unless you know of a comparable US city. www.payscale.com/cost-of-living-calculator/state/TexasWe live within a mile of an ancient fault-line, no tremors. A couple hundred miles to the north, the same fault-line is slightly active. Hurricanes can hit the coast from the Gulf of Mexico, but might or might not go very far inland as it's a big state, 678,051 square km of land area. Areas further north get snow, though it's rare in the southern part. Hot, yes indeed.
