JesusNinja I buy many books from Amazon and they will not accept Paypal (which I prefer) We have to use our credit card. I suggest he was referring to revenue.

At the risk of sounding like a conspiracy theorist, sometimes I think companies like Lulu are using the current (going on a year) state of affairs to justify things like late responses and deliveries.
I wrote Lulu over a week ago about an issue where my eBook creation ends with a message like "cannot publish right now, please check your projects later." Today I wrote again (replying to the original ticket) and immediately got the AI Bot's message, "Good news! Your problem can be fixed by you right on your site! No waiting for a reply..."
Uh, no. I tried revising, all the steps complete without error, there is no global distribution issue, no ISBN issue, it all goes smoothly until the last. I don't have this trouble with print editions.
I can only hope that the powers that be will wake up to realize that OUR problems are THEIR problems. We share in the profits.

Cannot finish publishing two separate ebooks. One Lulu made revise it with another ISBN because of a bug they didn't fix. The second one still doesn't publish because of bug in the wizard. I have written them several times about it and just get the we're looking into it message. And of course great news you can fix it yourself. If I could I wouldn't need to write support. That's what they get paid for.

I am a little surprised by this statement. Banks and credit card companies are subject to financial market supervision and must comply with strict regulations. Paypal is much less strictly regulated. My account number can have who wants. Because: What can someone do with my account number? Deposit money. Withdraw money is not possible.

It appears that the majority of Lulu staff are still being forced to work from home and that they are not allowed into the Offices which account for most of the apparent tardiness.

are still being forced to work from home All the work one does on the computer, for example, access to the ticket system, remote access, etc., can easily be done from home. It's not like the support people go down to the basement and screw around with the servers, move a big lever, reconnect cables and the like. Working from home is no problem for such tasks. For me, that is not an excuse.
Here, the big banks (UBS, Credit Suisse, Julius Bär, and many more) have been working like this for over a year, as have the insurance companies (Axa, Zurich/Farmers and many more), etc., etc. - and even the tax office on the office PC taken at home and connected with a VPN to the main server!

Yes, I appreciate that response Benz and was exactly what I thought I would get when I posted.
However there is no substitute for what the US calls meetings around the water cooler, or other ad hoc chats. Additionally Lulu used to have stand up meetings every morning to discuss support issues and current topics. Good team work requires face to face meetings and conversations. Learning is constant for support and problem solving and cannot be done in isolation.

My son works from home (Before covid as well) and only goes into the office occasionally. He's just been promoted, so the company must have been satisfied with his work from his house. My daughter-in-law says he works very hard without supervision from the company.
