I have to get old but there is nothing that is going to force me to grow up. I get that. My 2-y.-o. son gets angry when he hits the floor to protest the injustice of not being able to do exactly what he wants when he wants and I hit the floor to protest with him. He doesn't realize I remember the age he is and I agree as life isn't always fair.
As I tell my 6-y.-o. [the future psychologist who outwitted someone with a Master's in Childhood Psychology and Development, twice] I may be old and obsolete but I still am functional.
Growing up is often seen as a reason to be giving up on life, dreams, and aspirations when it should be seen as a reason to fight all the harder so our replacements will have a reason to survive.

My father passed away at 75. My mother is 73 and she works taking care of old people. She tells people she's 60 -- here it's illegal for an employer to ask your age. She does everything a 40-year-old would do, that is why she is young.

Ron, that word is inaccurate. You can advance chronologically, but you have never gotten old. You're still as young as when I met you.

That's why you sound young, Cameron. You are living the life of someone who is relevant, important and crucial.
Yes, getting old is an excuse. My shoulder hurts. Different parts hurt too when I was twenty.

True Ron my brain hasn't aged but my body refuses to do the things I used to do. I don't dwell on my age and see the half full cup not the half empty cup, but as the years accumulate you do sometimes think what lies ahead. I'm actually a very positive person but also realistic I accept I'm now in my eighties and I just make the best of i. I think we can keep our forum going and gradually maybe others will join. I know I enjoy visiting with you all and have had some good advice and help. We are never too old to learn.

Like I tell my oldest daughter, I may be old and obsolete, but I am still functional and I've got more time-in-grade so I still am useful.
My children see my importance [for now] as serving them in ways they deem crucial.
