I am trying to publish a 6 x 9 book. I don't know how to respond to the following error message.
Book Size: Your PDF dimensions are 8.264" x 11.694" (209.90mm x 297.04mm)For the book size you selected, the PDF dimensions need to be within 14.688"-14.812" x 10.688"-10.812". (373.06mm-376.24mm x 271.46mm-274.64mm). Please update your PDF dimensions or select a different book size.
I have created a cover, with various alterations to the 6 x 9 size.

Did I understand that correctly: - you have chosen 6x9 inches - the system requires 14,7x10,7 inches According to the error message the document - 8,26x11,69 inches - how big is it according to the software you used to create it?
- Which software did you use to design the document? - Which software did you use to create the PDF?
Is this an error message from lulu.com or another self publishing company?

Without more detail I would guess your problem is to do with how you are creating the PDF. It seem to be quite a common problem here that is normally resolved by adhering to using Adobe Acrobat. acrobat.adobe.com/uk/en/acrobat/acrobat-pro.html

Thank you for responding, the book is 6 x 9 hardcove. I left that out.
document was created in word 2007, tryed to use words, save as pdf, when I uploaded i got an error indicating something was not embeded. I used smallpdf to convert to pdf. and that was accepted. I designed the cover using microsort digital image pro 9. It is no long available, and used smallpdf to covert to pdf. ms digital image allows me to resize the cover. When they say 14.7 x 10.7 in is required, does the 14.7 represent width or length.
suggestion on resize software to us, preferably free

We need to step back. What type of cover are you trying to create? Wrap Around or Dust Cover? What size image did you create?

A hardcover in 6x9, wrapped, equals 6x9 for front plus back as well as spine plus the extra that wraps around to secure the cover to the cardboard.
The 10.7 inches should be the height of the book. The 14.7 inches should be the total width of front cover, back cover, and one can I'm assume the spine.

If you open a cover template with a graphic software (e.g. Gimp for PNG or PDF), you can create a new layer. On this layer you create your cover. At the end, you hide the template layer and save the cover.
I prefer IngramSpark's template generator, as it also takes into account the page number/thickness of the book and generates the barcode for the ISBN.

It does work for Lulu.com
