I was just wondering if, when publishing a book, do you just use paperback? Or publish them in all three formats, paper, hard and electronic? Is there value in hardcover? or do you do it because you can at no cost (other than the POD for oneself), so that it's out there. Thoughts?

I personally don’t create many eBooks as I prefer the joy of having a book in my hands and reading it page by page. I don’t find eBooks as east to read. Also quite often I want to look at specific pages or quickly go to specific parts of the books. I also prefer to create hard backs as they better represent the quality of my work but sometimes the target audience can better afford the lower cost of a paperback. If it’s an important work then a paperback and especially an eBook devalues it.
A caveat though, my works are not story books or fiction but usually of a technical nature or of modern military history with a sprinkling of auto biographies.

I agree, although I haven't done so myself yet. I always thought the price set would be too high for people to want to purchase it, but I'm thinking it would be nice to have a hard cover with dust jacket on it. And, like you said, why not it's easy.

Look for a free upload coupon.

My paperbacks outsell my hardbacks by a large margin. I like having the hardback, but most people seem to prefer the better price point.

Is Ingram spark the same outfit that prints the hardcovers for Barnes&Noble? If so, the quality is terrible! Poor paper quality (coarse texture and not white); ugly, thin color saturation on the cover.

Mag2024 . Have you any experience of using IngramSparks jacketed case laminate for a hard cover? I’m about to start a new project where I want a 200+ page prestige cover hard back

I just checked out the hardback jacket and d/l the template, however the spine looks to small and not wide enough. In fact the measurement is only .25", where the paperback spine is just over an inch. How can the jacket measurements be correct based on the size and pages given for the template.

Mag2024. I just want to know if you have had any books with a jacketed case laminate for a hard cover? I have made many for clients and have had a few sent to me. They look great. Just take the plunge.
