One person says a quote, and - - whoever knows-- can guess which book it's from. No Googling? Or Googling, doesn't matter.
Better just a passing game than another tattoo. So here is mine:
"The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away. Blessed be the name of the Lord. "
I have uttered this so many times this year, and it resurfaced in my mind again today. Powerful words, profound, maybe of acceptance, love, humility? Exasperation? I do not know.
The Bible, yes, but which book of the Bible?

The game exists in Japan. It was created after the arrival of the Portuguese who brought in their playing cards: Port. carta > Jpn. karuta "card". In the Japanese version - the game of uta-garuta "poem cards" - one hundred (or less) short poems are divided into two halves. The deck of lower halves is placed in the middle of the circle of players. The deck of the upper halves is distributed among the players (or vice-versa). The game master picks a card in the middle, and reads it aloud. The player who has the corresponding upper-half card, and is able to see the connection, gets the lower-half card, and wins one point. This is just the most common way of playing this card. In an act of the Kabuki play "Kaoyo Uta-garuta" ( 1lib.fr/book/2719300/3c229b?id=2719300&secret=3c229b ) by CHIKAMATSU Monzaemon, a famous playwright ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chikamatsu_Monzaemon ), a party of court ladies play this game.

I guess it's my turn:
That was Tom's great secret - the scheme to return home with his brother pirates and attend their own funerals.

How cool is that. You speak Japanese, Jean-Paul? I did some Japanese for my M.A. dissertation - The Influence of Noh Drama on Yeats's Noble Plays (University of Lille, 1969) - published in the 21st century with Lulu as Yeats and Noh. Now it's almost all gone.

That's too bad. A lovely accessory. Perhaps you'll visit Japan and pick it up again. This is very kind of you, Maggie, but I am now too old to travel - I have difficulties walking, and climbing up and down stairs is now a big problem.
