The latest from Lulu, Oct 1, 2021: Introducing Promotional Pricing!
With this new feature, you now have the ability to create and manage Author Promotional Pricing for your published projects.
This feature allows you to set a discounted price per currency, select the Lulu Bookstore and/or the Distribution channel to apply the promo to, and schedule when and for how long you want the promotion to stay active.
In the Lulu Bookstore, products running a promotion will display a purple percentage icon and a strikethrough across the original price.
Head over to one of your published projects and scroll down to the Pricing and Payees section to get started on your promotion.

I decided to play the guinea pig and set up a promotional discount at Lulu Press Bookstore (only) for one product (only) for two weeks (only). What Lulu's announcement does not tell you is that:
1) The promotional prices can only be set for a period of from 1 to 30 days, and 2) The promotional pricing must be scheduled 14 days in advance. 3) Only one promotion can run at a time.
As noted, the promotion can be set for Lulu Bookstore only, Distribution channels only, or BOTH. Also, each currency can be individually addressed. Nice!
I'll report on any issues I encounter over the next month because of this.
Who knows? This may turn out to be a very valuable tool!

That huge book of yours, let us know when there's a promotion. And if it ships from Europe. Over 22 Euro and there are enormous customs fees, unfortunately.

Does Lulu use European printers for orders from Europe? I would assume they do. That would make sense but sense doesn't seem to get made much anymore. (As a matter of fact, my test of the system is with the paperback version of SPACE: An Odyssey in Rhyme for October 16 through October 31, but it is only a 15% discount. I didn't want to step on an unforeseen Lulu system landmine and wind up losing and arm or a leg.)

Unfortunately, it won't reach you either. Anyway, about to board the ferry for home, final destination, and my brain is tired. Can you give me a link to the beauty I coveted last year please? I don't want to go hunting.

No need to log in. 15% discount code TRICK15 I feel like I super-treated myself. I've waited a year for it. Something is gurgling in my heart. Thank you.

I hope the gurgling stays in your heart and not your stomach! Hee hee! Thank you, Maggie. Yes, Lulu is having their own 15% discount through October 8 (TRICK15). My little discount attempt begins October 16.

If the discount were permanent and for all my books, I'd resume global distribution, sell the book from the Lulu bookstore at the normal price, but at the outrageous price requested by Amazon in other outlets. In its present state, the discount system is too much bother.

But what is discounted? Does it affect your revenue?
It certainly doesn’t apply to all projects as in several instances that I looked at the promotions were denied as my the list price was too low.

Ken, Log into your Lulu Account, go to your Projects page, click on one of your projects and you will see what can be done.

Done that.
Lulu rejects all as my list prices are too low!

It lists minimum prices for each currency. Just keep them above that.

Glad I dropped by the forum today as until I had seen this thread, I wasn't aware you could do this on Lulu. Thanks for the heads up on this Maggie. I'm going to give it a try on one of our books.
