Lulu just popped something up about prices of certain projects going up. As I haven't increased my prices in ten years I went through the ones they suggested and made increases. When I finished I realised my best sellers hadn't been included.
When I started going through my books to finish the rest the first one I tried indicated I have to do absolutely everything from scratch before reaching pricing. Is this correct?
If I download the print files can I just shove those back in, including covers, or are there all layers of Hell awaiting me?
Any advice gratefully received. Cheers!

No, you don't have to revise or edit the interior or cover files just to set pricing. Just go to your Projects, click on the book, then scroll down to Pricing. Set the numbers and save. Simple.
Now with that said, if it has been a long time since you accessed your projects (prior to the system change) there is a chance the system will try to step you through a few general items. It may also try to have you resize a cover file. (It seems someone ran into that.) But it should all be pretty straight forward, regardless.

Thanks for that but, sadly, the moment I went straight for a price revision it says, 'Design step needs to be completed before setting the prices. ' Obviously I hadn't been in there to try anything similar for a very long time! Not sure I can be bothered to do battle, when I'm moving all my best sellers over to Amazon anyway. '

I noticed a while ago that any and all changes, not even to the book itself, insisted on one buying another proof to set the Global Dist operation in motion again.
Do note that even if you remove them from distribution or delete them from Lulu they will remain listed on places such as Amazon, even if Amazon states No Longer Available. So if you redo the books at Amazon, both will be listed, which can be confusing.

No, you don't have to buy a proof when you simply change a price.
Altering interior or cover files DOES require a proof though.

I simply linked to the books' pages from my website. Some of mine are shown on Amazon, always unavailable, from the time Lulu simply dumped a load of listings on Amazon without approval, which is said to be the reason they never actually managed to secure a proper deal with Amazon at the time. When I move everything onto Amazon I will retitle them. I will also ask Amazon to remove old/dead listings. I've started with kindle releases and thus far their support is very good, always getting back within 24 hours.

"No, you don't have to buy a proof when you simply change a price."
I seem to recall that Approve For ... box started to pop up no matter what had been changed, which could be confusing, when before that on the first page of details you just had to Save (any changes) and that was that.

From the link provided in Lulu's email regarding this pricing update (emphasis mine):
Pricing Tool and Default Updates
If one or more of your projects for sale is impacted by our price update that would result in you not receiving revenue (if the print cost increases more than your previous print cost + revenue), we will automatically update your minimum cost for you at the time of the price update. We will ONLY make this manual adjustment if your project would receive $0, or less, revenue after the update to ensure you retain the profit margin you enjoyed before the pricing update.
We strongly recommend carefully monitoring your projects for sale and using the Pricing Update Tool when it is available during our annual price update period.
The link:
The next time you log into your account, you will see this notice and have the ability to make any changes you like immediately. Simply make your changes then click the BLUE "Update List Price" button.

Lulu could not have made it simpler. They provided a button to search for your affected projects. Simply click the button to update the prices. BOOM! DONE! SIMPLE! Thank you, Lulu!
EDIT: AARRghhh! Belay that! It's a freaking mine field!

They only make this possible on some of your books, or they did in my case. I would have liked to slightly increase the prices of my best selling 50 or so titles, as the prices haven't been updated in years, but not a single one of those came up. The moment I try and update any of the ones I actually want to change I am told I will have to go through the whole design process, which I have no interest in doing. My time is far better spent shifting them to Amazon.

I also have not looked at my books for years. Maybe I should. But I do intend eventually only publishing one more book there, and any others will be via Amazon.

NOT YET, KEVIN! Hold your horses!
YES, mickmercer, ALL LAYERS OF HELL! My apologies for assuming all was still well in Lulu-land. In the recent past, I have made pricing changes with no issues whatsoever and no requirement to buy needless proof copies.
This morning I went through the little exercise above and was very happy with what I found. I clicked all the Blue Buttons and skipped merrily down the lane. This evening I logged back into my projects for other reasons and discovered that all of the projects so affected now have purple banners informing me that: UNPUBLISHED DRAFT: Projects in revision are saved as a draft. The currently published version remains available for sale until your new revision is completed. So for grins I clicked on one of the books and went down through the sections clicking the "Approve" checkboxes. It seemed the reasonable thing to do. That resulted in a VERY UNWELCOME orange banner:
Purchase a copy to review and approve to continue with Global Distribution.
...and a VERY UNWELCOME disappearance of its In Distribution status. (Thankfully, it was a casewrap edition that is rarely purchased.)
I have opened a Support Ticket with Lulu asking them to return all my projects to how they were YESTERDAY.
I will promptly let you know what I learn, if anything.

You can skip the reupload interior stage if I recall correctly.

Let me know what Lulu said, BlueandGold. I also updated some of my prices and received the purple banners.
