Just curious if anyone has experienced this:
A Proof of a new cover is ordered and it arrives looking good, but when production copies are ordered the cover art is printed lighter?

Ah, OK. So it can go either way. I guess it's just a variable one needs to keep in mind. Thanks!

Ah, OK. So it can go either way. I guess it's just a variable one needs to keep in mind. Thanks! It pretty much depends on the machines. If the printer is fully loaded on ink / toner it will likely print slightly darker during the first runs and then a lot lighter as supplies are running low. It happens with print-on-demand as well as traditional publishers.
It all depends on how closely the techs are watching and resupplying the machines.

Blue, I usually have my Lulu books printed in Canada, and they are never any different from what I uploaded. Completely impeccable printing. Perhaps it's the country printer.

I'm not sure how many print facilities Lulu has/uses, but production copies and proofs often come from different states: Massachusetts, Wisconsin, Kentucky(?)... It seems like I've seen others too.

I have spent the last ten or fifteen minutes on Lulu, in Knowledgebase, looking up the countries where lulu has printers. Cannot find. Dommage.
