But will you "owe" them proof copies? My projects all show as pending revisions since the last time I tried to update prices.
I wonder if they ever fixed THAT bug?
Sheeesh!

OK, since I never sell any books anyway, the results don't matter much, so I ventured into My Projects and changed the pricing on ALL of my projects that have that annoying purple banner that says:
A revision has been created for your Book and is still incomplete.
Purchasing a copy of this Book will use the most recently published version. Be sure to complete all revisions and republish your Book to purchase the most up-to-date version of your project.
I clicked on the project’s title, then Continue EditingI clicked on the green Pricing & Payees checkmark at the top. I entered my Revenue Goal at the top. Scrolled down through the numbers then clicked Final ReviewScrolled down through the details then clicked Confirm and Publish
You may get a spinning arrow or you may get:
Publishing your project is taking longer than expected. Please check your My Projects list for updates, and we'll keep working on it in the meantime.
Either way, you may have success and you may find that your project is no longer displayed as in Distribution and an orange flag asking you to buy a proof copy to continue.
The Result:
50% of the projects changed price with no issues and the annoying purple banner went away. 50% of the projects want me to buy a proof copy to continue with distribution.
So I ask: Is there such a thing as a 50% fixed software bug?
Support Ticket opened.

There is such a thing as an intermittent software bug happening only under certain specific conditions where the proposed solutions raise up new buggy issues to be fixed, so a 50% fixed bug is theoretically possible.
Glad I retired my print versions on Lulu Press.

I face exactly the same issues as Blue and Gold
I'm rapidly coming to the conclusion that Lulu really is a complete waste of space.
They lost my confidence a long time ago.

Hey! Within an hour or so I got this email from Lulu: "Thank you for contacting Lulu's support team. My name is Michael and I am happy to help with this today.
I was able to set both projects so that you just need to approve each one. There is no need to purchase a proof for the price change. You can click approve proof at your earliest convenience.
I hope this helps. If you have any other questions, please let me know.
Kind regards, "
I logged in to my projects, approved the "Proof Copies" and all is well!
Very nice response, Lulu!

So, go buy a copies of all of my books and I'll let you know if the revenue for the new prices comes through. Hee hee! (Actually, I set the prices lower on a couple of them.)

sirram: What I noticed today was when that silly "taking longer than expected" message comes up, I just clicked on My Projects at the top and the projects list showed it complete.
Granted, I was NOT uploading files for a real revision, just changing prices. That may be different.

I used to do system support and was usually first in line to set up tests by end-users for program changes / revisions. If anything didn't work the way the programmers thought it would, the proposed change / revision was put on hold until the bugs were worked out.
Kind of makes one wonder what is considered a successful software test these days.

This is a never-ending bug in the Lulu software. I have experienced it time and time again. They must know. Why don't' they just fix it? I think the reason that Lulu ported over the software from that 'commercial' print only site they owned because Lulu was so riddled with bugs it was easier to just change it all, but the transition also seems to be buggy.

I recall that when I had websites it was possible to create and edit pages, and then test them, if any problems persisted then they were adjusted. The Publish (to the internet) button was only prodded when everything was OK. It's always been my opinion that Lulu do not bother with a 'sandbox'.

Some companies release their new software into a beta-test environment and invite interested end-users (e.g. us) to try it. The old system remains live in the meantime. That would have been a good approach here, and avoided all these problems with our live books (e.g. Lulu wanting us to buy proof copies when all that's changed is the price).
Lulu did find a crafty way of fixing that bug in the price-checker (which was meant to list all the books that needed a price increase - but which didn't). They simply removed the price-checker rather than fix it.
