The bottom line is
1. Lulu doesn't really want us to exist. We are just another place to worry about and check regularly so as to make sure we don't misuse the Lulu name or logo. (My understanding).
2. No new lulu user has come here asking for help. 3. As the bible says (somewhere), if those you invite do not wish to come, invite strangers. Invite everyone. I think Kevin is right, the name is too narrow. Most of us here use many PODs. Let's open it up.

Sounds like a good idea. After all, many if not most of the problems facing Lulu authors are the same as those facing anyone self-publishing.

The problem with places on the internet, no one visits them if they do not know they exist. (Many companies spend millions advertising their sites.) Those with your own websites, do you have a link from them to here? But perhaps the link would be better if this forum did not seem dedicated to just using Lulu.

I never thought of adding a link from my website. That's a good idea...especially if the forum were more general.

It's not that we don't want a forum community to exist. Lulu as a company evaluated how much use the forum got and how effective it was at helping users complete their books and balanced that against the cost of maintaining said forum. The numbers just didn't add up for us.

For now, yes, it's dedicated only to lulu users, the link on my website. The forum says Lulu publishing.

My phrasing was poor. Cost in a dollar amount wasn't really the issue. If we'd had concerns about the cost we could have downgraded to a simpler tool. I meant more the time we spent maintaining the forums (both moderating and from technical perspectives) versus other ways we offer assistance.

Well, considering this forum is no expense or effort to Lulu, would Lulu put a link here to it?

And yes, it would be the decent thing to do.

I think Paul has secretly done that, posted our link in various places on the Lulu site.

Gosh, I have not looked, but I wonder what Lulu's heads think about that if he has?
