"There was an error uploading the file. Please try again."
I've been trying to upload my daycare yearbook for the parents for over 9 months now and I cannot get it to accept it. I made sure the font is embedded, so it's not that. The page count is 56 pages, so that should be good too. Bleed and page sizes are correct. I've double checked the page sizes against the smaller files that it will actually accept. I can upload the partially combined pages (10 pages) just fine, but no matter what I do, it will not accept the 56 pages. I've tried re-saving the PDF, renaming it, moving the file, nothing works. Please help <3

You didn't mention the error message. Hard to advise otherwise.
Why not just login to Lulu and raise a support ticket? The contact form allows one to attach a file (in your case the problematic PDF).

That's the only error message it gives "There was an error uploading the file. Please try again." I did open a support ticket again yesterday, no answer yet. It also will not let me upload the PDF to the support ticket, it says it's too big.

It also will not let me upload the PDF to the support ticket, it says it's too big. Lulu Press Inc.'s offices are open Monday through Friday, so no support tickets are answered over the weekend.
You might want to check the size of your file since it's too big to attach to the support ticket.

It's 3,943,242 KB ( 3.75 GB ) . I realize that's a large file, but it's a yearbook, so there are lots of pictures. I'm not sure how I would shrink it?

Typically you would resize the JPEG images and save with an alternate name, i.e.: sample1-rs.jpg before importing into your document. Make sure each image is a minimum 300 DPI.

That's 70 MB per page is it not? I have an A4 picturebook with 74 pages. There are 31 full page photos in it. The PDF is only 285 MB. Granted the photos are all grayscale, but even in full colour it would not be 3.75 GB. You need to look at how you have created the pages. I assume being a yearbook it has many photos per page? Did you, for instance, resize them to the exact size of the frames before you added them? If not and you resized them on the pages they often will remain the same original size in the creation's file.

My issue turned out to be that I combined the original photoshop pdf pages, rather than combining the JPEG pages that I saved them as. So the file turned out to be huge. I opened back up adobe and combined each jpeg page (rather than each pdf page) and it was finally a manageable size. Whew. I'm just so glad it worked finally.
