It's like when you try to remove unwanted 'Bloatware' (all the stuff preloaded that you never use). It always says > may affect other apps and stop them working.

I have no idea why it would say that then. Just what access to other services does it need?

Although it is a browser extension, and they do need to access your browser. To see what you are searching for if nothing else. It can be a bit suspect, like spyware, and the internet is pretty much built around collecting people's data. Nothing is really free, not even the browser you already use. I added it easily a few years ago on Firefox browser, but Brave browser warned me that they are not safe, and I believe it. Honey likely super data harvesters like Google.

I have not heard of Brave, perhaps they need to put some ads on line The problem with things like Honey is they cannot work unless they plant cookies to know what you are looking at. Bit hard for it to find a discount code unless it can. Such is life.

Bit hard for it to find a discount code unless it can. Such is life. They are against imposed advertising. Do a search for Brave Browser. Yes I did. That's not really the same as cookie planting though. Some cookies may dictate the type of adverts you see, but they are not the actual advert planters. Most cookies are harmless really. Such as auto log in ones that save you constantly typing in passwords and stuff. Cookies also aid website functionality. When I had a website they enabled me to look at stats, such as what page a viewer entered the site; if they moved on to other pages and which ones; how long they stayed; what browser and searchengine they used, and so on. All useful things to know when tailoring a site to attract more people and get them to stay longer.
But the problem with adverts is > it's how places earn money. It's how producers get their wares in front of eyes. The latter has always been the case, and in many respects, the former too. It does not matter if some viewers are not interested in a particular advert (although some cookies try to find adverts for things you are interested in.) I see many on TV I am not interested in.
Anyway, some cookies gather data they should not, but it does not pay to be paranoid if using the internet.

Imagine if you advertise your books, but those adverts are blocked.

Imagine if you advertise your books, but those adverts are blocked. Choice is a good thing. Use Google if you want to see ads whether you want to or not. Use Brave if you want to opt into ads and be paid for it (Rewards, they're called, and supposedly they can be converted to gift cards, etc.)

Many places pay what's called click-through rewards. You could possibly earn $1.50 a year from them. And it's easy just to ignore adverts. No one forces people to click on them. It's cookies that spy on people that should be viewed with suspicion. Then again, some adverts plant them. European sites are supposed to ask for permission. It was a compromise from banning them totally termly.io/resources/articles/cookie-law/ But messing with the many permissions they ask is a pest, and I am not convinced the refusals work anyway. I get more spam mail since the law came in to effect!

Brave is not unique though. restoreprivacy.com/browser/secure/And duckduckgo is currently spending a fortune advertising it. I wonder how long it will be before they change that stupid name?
