www.bbc.com/culture/article/20220407-the-best-books-of-the-year-2022None of them I have read, or want to. I read Sf and F, that's often labelled 'International best seller.' ( not sure what figures those boasts are though.) None of that list seem to be IBS. One set of stats that comes top of the list in a search about who reads books, says it asked 975 people in 57 countries. Hardy a decent sample, and one most statisticians would ignore. But it comes up with this > "27% said they read over 20 books in 2022, whereas 32% said they read one to five books." It's not easy to find stats. Most seem to be book selling places telling you what you should read (buy.) Anyway, this may be of interest >>>> basmo.app/reading-statistics/One thing that is often ignored, when some people moan that people, especially young ones, don't read books, is that they do indeed read many other things that are not books. Reading is reading is it not? Okay, it may not be fiction, and perhaps not even educational, but it is reading. As an example. One of my sons, his main hobby is playing quite complex games on his PC. They include comprehensive rules and instructions, that he seems to spend half the game time, reading.

And also, my other son often plays Advanced Dungeons and Dragons type board games. Drop the rule books for those on your foot and they would break it. Incredibly some of those 'games' cost £100s! and he owns dozens. There's no accounting for what people do in their spare time and with their cash.
