Just a note that the Topic Creation Preview button is not functional.
Perhaps a site help/issues forum section could be created?

Okay, the message under preview indicates no effects have been applied to it.
Since none of the button effects change that message such as the video or this link I would tend to say the preview won't kick in without trying it in html, which I'm not so proficient at.
Give me a bit to see if there's a different cause.

Turning the page? Read the manual you cannot open! Brother Ansgar's problem was only, that his book was not printed by Lulu.... The point is, you write just in the preview mode. What you see on the bottom is not a button, but a tab. If you look very close, you see the same background colour as for your message, but a little bit darker (grey) for the other tab " BBCode". Change to this tab (BBCode), and you should see some strange code, do you? If yes, it works! Then just click on the (now grey and BBC white) "Preview" tab to switch back where you started and probabely want to stay: the preview-and-writing-mode. Does it works now?

I had to answer Help Desk calls years ago, and your solution was not one I was expecting. Dang it, BBCode is a variant of HTML but I never thought of clicking that button.
Then again I've had end-users who thought their computers were messed up, because they forgot to turn on the monitor. Then there was the member of management who was complaining about a printer not working, turned out it was turned off to test a new model printer as a replacement and the guy couldn't be bothered to walk thirty feet to see the printed notice on top of the printer. I like the Medieval Help Desk routine because it reminds me of part of what I escaped when I left the corporate world.

OK, let's test this... AHA! Thank you, Benziger! Yes, on boards I was on in the past it was BBCode all the time and I had to manually type all the formatting symbols to make bold, italics, or links. This automated formatting stuff might spoil me! In fact, I'm already spoiled!

Ah, enjoy the automated BBCode as doing it all manually gets tedious. [*gulps kaffee*]
