Hi,
Well I am reading all the messages about the new website and I am holding my breath. I migrated from Amazon's Createspace (which was a godsend for my books) when they stopped support for RtL languages (Hebrew and Arabic mainly). Lulu was the only option available. Without it, I am rather out stuck. My self-publishing days would be truly over. So, to hear about all the glitches and changes with the new website, I am only hoping it is just a design disaster and nothing under the hood will change. Has anyone heard anything about any change about RtL languages?
Thanks

I have never published books that are written and read from right to left. Couldn't you just create a PDF where the "right to right back" is the title page of the "right to left book"? Or would that cause distribution problems because the barcode is on the wrong page?

IngramSpark can do it, if I understand their guide well: www.ingramspark.com/hubfs/downloads/file-creation-guide.pdf (there is a setup fee of 49$ per book, but with the coupon code INGRAMSPARK2020 it's free until the end of this month I suppose - Mag2024 knows more about that, maybe another coupon will be published later this year or next year?)

With Ingramspark you will not get a free ISBN number if you use the coupon code you will have to buy your own ISBN number.

Or would that cause distribution problems because the barcode is on the wrong page? That's what I do with Lulu. I reorder my pdf to have the back as the front and vice versa. Not ideal but that's the only way to do here. I checked all other POD providers, Lulu wins hands down (after Amazon). Unfortunately, Amazon KDP do not have any plans to add RtL languages to their plans. I find this mind blowing how short-sighted they are. A whole part of this world is cut off because the POD providers can't be bothered to add this technical spec. Traditional publishers for these languages are still, well, traditional. Not for me. Thanks for your reply.

However, I thought Ingram Spark lean on the side of traditional publishing with extortionate fees. I had been publishing with Createspace who were perfect for thousands of publishers until Amazon in their wisdom decided to cease this service and lots of technical features with it. Now, the latest Lulu website disaster (no other adequate term to describe it) threatens any trust or long term stability to self-publishers like me. There's a huge niche market for RtL self-publishers if one has the means to invest in a POD website and service.

Actually Amazon incorporated Createspace into KDP Meaning if you have a KDP account and a Createspace account you need to get Amazon to merge the Createspace account into the KDP account.
There are RtL Language options, though Farsi isn't on the list. Take a look:

Absolutely right. It has been a while since I last checked all of this. In terms of cost and royalties, I remember my research got Lulu as the best option (again after Amazon KDP). The new thing here for me is that now Hebrew is supported. I am hopeful that next will be support for Arabic paperback (only e-book supported for now on Amazon). I am publishing a few books and textbooks in different languages (mainly in Arabic) and I will have to re-visit all the POD services again to find the best option available. Thanks for all your tips and the time to respond to my questions.
