"Content matter" issues with erotica tend to involve some combination of bestiality, incest, non-consensual sex [aka rape], underage sex, or something else whoever at the site in question deems offensive. In other genres "content matter" and peoples' feelings have long been less than friendly. earlybirdbooks.com/banned-challenged-and-censored-booksAs a rule the Apple book store is fairly conservative, as in a cover showing a female nipple is considered too risque. What? Why? So much naked art around. I went to Switzerland for one day and the bars have explicit photographs of the unclothed body on the walls. As art. And they are closeups.

I'm yawning. The book is unreadable. So badly written.I happened to see "50 Shades" in a second hand books shop Mag2024 . It was very cheap, so I bought it. However I gave up after a chapter, it was not only badly written it was thoroughly boring. However I decided to find out a bit more about the British author Erika Leonard. She's married to an Irish man called Niall Leonard. When he realised that his wife had decided to give up her job and take up full time writing, her hubby was a bit worried. However when the book started making money, her husband gave up his job and began to write. Now both are published authors making a good living. I wonder if his books are less boring!
Update Perhaps Niall Leonard's books are less boring he was an Edgar Award finalist for Best Young Adult Novel.

The only explanation for the why I can think of is it's a private company and as such it can carry or refuse to carry whatever it wants. While it's a multinational it is based in California.
Another thing to consider is the US is a patchwork regarding Age of Consent versus Age of Majority, with over fifty different interpretations including different approaches to who can legally engage in sex or marry. Those laws are left to the states or territories to enact. In Texas it's illegal to marry a first cousin and doing so can include criminal prosecution while in California it's no big deal so do what you want.
If you look up "Regeneration: Capturing Shadows" on the iStore or Kobo versus the copy on Amazon you'll notice the covers are different. No bare female tittae or nipple for Apple or Kobo so plain brown wrapper.

Vague reason 'content matter' dozens of volumes/ebooks i could of edited 1 book or scene but not all no way as erotic adult age 18 tags etc. I boycott apple products all my life due to that. I'm serious here. they keep 50 shades of gray there. Why? Sells millions of units they make a killing on it. 50 shades was indie author book far as i know too. Anyhow each writer is different lol. They would lose half their income if they deleted all the books with adult content. Huge market. Correct Maggie the big sellers remain and smaller 1s are taken offline. I remember in 2013 a big fuss over adult ebook content and many sites deleted many authors' ebooks as happened to me in 17. Like closing the door after the horse ran off. I had books on itunes with Pussy in the title for say 5 years and then i was told to rename it that word as it is rude and breaks rules but after 5 years there... i had no choice to rename it. Under my normal name not pen name deleted. I use rival site amazon they hate 1 another. I had to remove references to amazon site in a book listed on itunes (ibooks) as it has amazon store ebook links in. I got round it somehow but i forget there... all part of the writing journey as you will know.

While I was there I looked at your books under both names.
I realize some things work differently in Manchester [England] than say, LA or NYC, but some things work the same. One instance is in the US and the UK a private company can refuse service.
Different platforms have taken action over different types of books for different reasons, and it's the individual companies' businesses to run.
Part of the writing journey is adapting to changing times and circumstances because the world isn't going to stand still and / or conform to our individual expectations.

I've read the loveliest young adult books in the past couple of years. "I'll Give You the Sun" is one of them. "Delirium" is another. In fact, I tattooed the last line of one of the chapters on my right forearm. Such a beautiful book.

Mag2024 His book "Crusher" was published by Random House in 2012 and nominated for Best Young Adult novel by the Mystery Writers of America and best first novel by the 2013 Edinburgh Book Festival. (The sequel to Crusher, Incinerator, was published in the UK in January 2014 and the third part of the trilogy, Shredder, will be published in June 2014.) "Crusher" is a crime thriller. If you like this type of novel you may enjoy it. "The day Finn Maguire discovers his father bludgeoned to death in a pool of blood, his dreary life is turned upside down. Prime suspect in the murder, Finn must race against time to clear his name and find out who hated his dad enough to kill him. Trawling the sordid, brutal London underworld for answers, Finn exposes dark family secrets and faces danger at every turn." ("Crusher" Niall Leonard, in Amazon)

" Delirium" is another. In fact, I tattooed the last line of one of the chapters on my right forearm. Such a beautiful book. Mag2024 Not "amor deliria nervosa." or were you However more likely “Find the things that matter, and hold on to them."
I really enjoyed reading the many quotes from "Delirium" but I don't think I'll read the book. I read that the "end to Delirium is quite the heart-breaker." In my old age I prefer happy endings.

Really? Or a joke? You changed the cover for a different seller? I'm not joking, the book wasn't allowed at two stores due to including visible female nipples. The book in question has a PBW Edition [Plain Brown Wrapper] for exactly two stores, Apple's istore and Kobo.

Through Lulu were you able to customize the cover per retailer?

I used Pinta / Gimp / Inkscape to make a rectangle approximately the color of brown wrapping paper then text added.
At the time Lulu Press had the check boxes which allowed you to choose the outlets you wanted to distribute to. For that edition there were only two outlets afraid of female nipples being seen.
