It's a long time since I've been on Lulu to buy a copy of my own book. I seem to remember that last time I went on the store was UK based. Now it's priced in dollars and is charging me sales tax. Am I looking in the wrong place? I can't find any reference to a UK store any more. If I buy from the US store will I have to wait for it to be shipped from America? I've tweeted Lulu support but not received a reply as yet. Thanks in advance if anyone knows the answer.

I am UK based and it's the same on my site---no UK store. Also if you make a book to sell you have to fill in a USA tax form. If you just print the book you don't have to fill in the tax form.

Lulu has the books printed by Partner. I don't know where they are. Once there was talk of the UK, France and the Netherlands (to limit myself to Europe). My last order was sealed with Polish adhesive tape. Was the book printed in Poland or was it just packed there? In the globalised value chain, it is difficult to say.
Concerning the currencies: Lulu is offering fewer currencies this year. According to whatsnew.lulu.com, $, £, €, Au$, Can$ should continue to be offered (Swiss francs have recently been dropped). Obviously, the currency cannot be adjusted. This is probably due to the browser's country or language setting. Try British English instead of just English to get £. The shops are offered by language: English, French, Italian, Spanish, German. (Dutch has been dropped recently.)
So much for this spring's offer increase.

Benziger I couldn't find Brirish English, only English, nor could I find the option to shop in other stores like we had before. In fact so many of the features that we had before have totally disappeared.
With the old Lulu my books were all printed here in England.

Sorry, I didn't make myself clear. It's the language setting of the operating system.
With Windows 10 it looks something like this: Click on the language setting at the bottom right (e.g. DEU for German or ENG for English). Then select the language setting (on my business PC, German and French is the default). In this case I have to click on the + to see more languages.
British English seems to be called "English (United Kingdom)".
I would try this because many things like languages or currencies are nowadays automatically selected based on the operating system or dial-up location. Sometimes you just have to give the artificial intelligence a little help. (A choice [e.g. menu] would of course be more customer-friendly.)

benziger I had already chosen English (United Kingdom) on my operating system. I always look for that option.

Larika, I never doubted it for a moment. As I think I wrote earlier this year, there are other approaches. For example with the Vivaldi browser ( vivaldi.com), which also has a community ( vivialdi.net). This community can not only discuss new functions, but also suggest them. In addition, the browser was technically built so that new languages can be implemented easily. Instead of constantly reducing the number of languages (and currencies), it is constantly being expanded - translated by volunteers and therefore into the most incredible languages - 53 in number. Such a community ties the users/partners very closely to the product.

It's a shame. I used to get a discount when I bought my own book. When I checked the price of it the other day, including US sales tax and shipping it actually cost the same as it did to buy it from Amazon, and the delivery time was twice as long. A bit disappointing really. Lulu seems to have changed a lot since I was last here.
BTW My OS and browser are both set to UK English.

Well I finally decided to just print my book in Lulu. Everthing was fine, no ISBN number, no tax form etc. Anyway after I did the page on price , I saw that to send the book to me from the USA store was so very expensive for one small book. I searched and searched for the UK store but couldn't see it. I wanted to change the dollar sign to pounds but again unable to do that. Anyway I contacted Lulu customer service using the form benziger gave us. help.lulu.com/s/contactsupport?language=en_UShttps://help.lulu.com/s/contactsupport I got an automatic response saying they were overloaded etc. etc. and to check on the site. USELESS. I had gone back to Lulu to just print the book and didn't envisage any probems but----- I'm not going to pay that absorbitant postage so it's hey ho I'll try and print my book elsewhere. Now I'm looking for a company similar to the old Lulu which is located in the UK and will just print my book. I often did that with a book I'd made in Lulu. Has anyone got any ideas? (we had a UK printer with the old Lulu and the postage was nominal. I tried mybestseller in the UK but their minimum number of pages is 57 I have fewer pages than that.) Well it's something to do as I sit in my chair with my Chromebook, my pills and my kindle. Heaven I'm not in Heaven, And my heart beats so that I can hardly breathe, And I seem to find the happiness I seek, When I take my pills I just don't feel so weak. (Does anyone remember Ella Fitzerald singing Cheek to Cheek.)

I am in Canada and sent a book to Greece recently. It was not very expensive and shipped pretty quickly.

In order to get the currency to work correctly (assuming your computer is set up with UK location and language), you need to clear the cookies for Lulu. You may want to find and note down your password for Lulu in Settings, Privacy first, in case the following procedure deletes a saved password (I don't think it will, but I'm not certain).
Now clear your Lulu cookies as follows: 1) Close all Lulu windows in your browser 2) Go to your browser's Settings, Privacy, Cookies, click "Show Saved Cookies" 3) Enter lulu into the search box - you should see a list of URLs for Lulu 4) Highlight and delete the ones ending in lulu.com - or clear all FILTERED cookies if they are all for lulu.com
Open Lulu.com in the browser, log in, and your problem should be fixed.
I was going round in circles for about 20 minutes before this possibility struck me!
Kind regards
Peter

The soft-bound copies I order for myself are still printed in France, in the same small city, by apparently a new printer, but most probably the same as before (Lulu), but under another name (Dupli-Print) because the address is exactly the same. The hard-bound copies are still printed by the same company as above. The hard-bound copies with jackets used to be also printed by the same company, but as I reported in another thread, the new ones were sent from the Netherlands.
