Thanks Ron, you and Maggie have helped me decide to paint my cartoons on the computer. As for the cover, I haven't decided which of my cartoons will adorn the front, or thought of a title for the book. When I've designed it, I'll post it in "covers" for critiques. PS. Ron why don't you have as your signature your Black Cat Studios. I think you made the right decision. Besides, you still have to create your cartoons by hand...you are just substituting tools. And I don't know why I haven't used Black Cat Studios for my signature! I will have to fix that!

The chicken is with my water colours and the other one is with the computer. Which method should I use. Thanks for any help, I missed this discussion a bit. In the meantime, you've already decided. If I just look at the two pictures, I find the first one (the watercolor chicken) more suitable for a children's book. But I have to add that I am rather conservative when it comes to children and education. I especially dislike the omnipresent humanization of animals. I also find it alarming when books are suddenly supposed to look like printed animated films. In short: I do not like every new publication on the children book market. But the fact that the corresponding books are published shows that they find an audience... Since I don't know the explicit target group, take this as my personal impression, not as advice. Two examples of children book illustrators I like: Left: H.U. Steger: At the end of a crazy story, all are sleeping, only the teddy bear is drawing and writing the story you just read/told before... Right: A. Carigiet: He made us believe that the people in the mountains still live as they did when his father was a boy.

Thanks Benziger, I think it is possible to do some very good paintings on the computer. I have only just started and haven't mastered shading or the subtleties some artists can achieve using the computer. However I'm getting better and enjoying this new way to apply colour to my illustrations. The few childrens' books I made with Lulu for my grandchild, have all been done in water colour or acrylics. My paintings are mostly watercolours.
