At the moment only active in the USA, it is about the following: All books that Ingram has in distribution can be purchased through bookshop.org. - 10% of the proceeds go into a pot that is distributed every 6 months to all independent bookshops in the USA.
- As an author, I can become an affiliate and get 10% (Amazon is about half as much for books). - But bookshop.org goes even further: I can choose an independent bookstore and then get the full bookstore margin on my purchases.
In the future, the range of books will be expanded and it is also planned to include markets outside the USA. Even now, as an American or having customers in the United States, you can sell your books on your website with customized links and earn twice: as an author and as an affiliate. Perhaps it is worthwhile to include this as a further building block in the marketing and sales mix? "Penguin Random House Publisher Services (PRHPS) is committed to providing the highest level of sales and distribution services to independent publishers. We provide unparalleled access to information, new technologies, a leading supply chain, and the benefits and reach of the Penguin Random House sales force."
Traditional publishers are seeing that the indie part of the market is huge. That is where the numbers and money are. That means us. If we were not a significant portion of it Lightning Source would not have created Ingram Spark to tap in. Likewise, it looks like Random House has jumped on board.
This is huge.

Could not find it though my books are on Amazon.
