I published a number of books under the Old Lulu, but am just beginning to use the new Lulu. With the old lulu, when creating a paperback cover, the Lulu Logo on the back cover could be removed simply by checking a box. I see no such option with the new cover creator. Is there a way to remove the Lulu logo?

Do you publish with a free ISBN from Lulu or with your own ISBN?

Using the old Cover Wizard you could indeed remove all the Lulu auto-placed stuff. I used Lulu's free ISBNs. I have not tried the new one, but I thought it was not exactly a Cover Wizard tool/designer, but just a section to upload a PDF to, with nothing on it but what you have designed on your PC?

I haven't published it yet, but will be purchasing my own ISBN. I had designed the cover and uploaded it several years ago, using the old Lulu. There was no logo on the old cover.. I just opened it up again to start revisions a couple of days ago, and to have a look at how my old cover looks in the new Lulu "wizard.". My cover was unchanged except that the Lulu logo has been added to the back cover, and there is no obvious way to remove it.
So apparently if you upload a new PDF cover, Lulu will add their logo to the back cover, whether you want it there or not!

They have never put their logo on any of my books. All they have done is add a blank page or two at the back for printing symetry. Lulu is mentioned nowhere in any book I have received from them, mine or others'.

I have a project from 7 years ago where Lulu printed a (for internal tracking only?) barcode on the back page, they did not insert any filler pages. Compare this to a project from June of this year. Nothing added to the back page but Lulu inserted a single filler page at the back and a similar barcode was printed on the bottom of that page. I expected Lulu to add something to the back page - I even allowed space for it as per their template - but on the printed book it's blank. Maybe if the project had an ISBN (it doesn't) that's where it would be printed?
However in both cases there was nothing to identify the book as being Lulu printed, no logo or identifying text, just a barcode and some letters and numbers.

Have any of you designed a new cover since the New Lulu went into effect? Or done a revision of an old book since the Big Change? At the bottom of the back cover, to the left of the barcode, there now appears Lulu's URL: www.lulu.com. So it's not actually a logo, but rather their web address. Either way, I don't want it there. It wasn't there when I printed a proof copy before the New Lulu. It's only appeared when I revised the book after the New Lulu. The Lulu URL doesn't appear on any of my books that were published before the New Lulu. But it would apparently show up now if I did a revision of any of them. And there is no apparent way to remove it.

Yes I have designed a new cover since New Lulu and had the book it goes with printed off. I have also just (15 minutes ago) done a Revision to an old Draft in my Projects, replacing the main body PDF and the front\back\spine PDF with brand new ones. In both instances there was no barcode or URL or anything at all on the back cover, not in the Preview of the cover on Lulu's website nor in the Print Ready files you can download. The only change to my physically printed book as I mentioned before was the insertion of an extra blank page at the back with a small barcode and some tiny numbers and letters, none of them say Lulu.
I don't have an ISBN and only print off copies of my projects for myself, not for distribution or sale through Lulu or other channels, so perhaps that's a factor here? Maybe adding the URL only happens with commercial projects?

Lulu is mentioned nowhere in any book I have received from them, mine or others'. Not actually on the pages, it was defaulted to the cover spine. But it could be removed in the Cover Wizards. The OP says his cover is actually one he uploaded years ago, but now has the Lulu logo on it? Would that be on the Print Ready PDF the Cover Wizard creates? If the logo has been added to that does that mean it's been added to all the PR PDFs regardless of age? If so that's disturbing. Lulu state that we are the publishers of our works, not Lulu. Granted the free ISBNs state Lulu is the publisher, but we were never forced to have their logo on our books, or to mention Lulu at all.

Page count has to be divisible by four or extra page/s will be added. Also, when creating for a hardback there has to be at least one blank leaf at the front and at least two at the back, if not they will be added, and still has to be divisible by four I think. (A leaf has two sides, BTW. in other words, one leaf = two pages).
I don't think it's Lulu that put those mysterious barcodes on the back page, it is the printers, and possibly just some printers because it's not in all books, and I assume it's to ensure the correct contents end up in the correct cover. I don't recall Lulu saying what it's actually there for.

Should they not pay us for that? Or at least a discount. Or at the very least ask us if they can advertise on our books?

It will be a new part of the ISBN barcode, so if you don't have an ISBN it will not appear.

There is no evidence at Blue & Gold.
I just looked at books designed and printed before the Lulu upgrade and also after the Lulu upgrade. Even books printed 5 years ago and again just weeks ago. There is no mention of Lulu or a website anywhere on or in any of them.
I suspect it is a choice one makes inadvertently somehow, or, as someone mentioned above, something one of Lulu's contracted print shops is up to.
All of B&G's inventory on hand was printed in USA, if that makes a difference.

Oh! Sorry! Another difference. All my book covers are one-piece PDF's done with MSWord. Maybe therein lies the key.

WILL THE LULU ADDRESS APPEAR EVEN IF I PURCHASE MY OWN ISBN?
