This is a book cover from our production. This could be a book by sirram: Local History. The people from the village recognise their church tower and then - hopefully - look at it. Otherwise rather unexcitedly designed. The picture is a collage from the sky, a historical photo of the church from 1893 and a current photo of the later built church tower at the right place, but only the upper half, so that it could be placed on the book...
The book is already on the market. However, I will be happy to include your comments in future covers.
For those who are interested in the title in English, as the book was published in another language: Factories, an empty school building and other emergency solutions : 150 years of the Catholic Church in the district of Meilen (2014).

I am not sure what to make of it. To me it looks odd. A B&W image together with a coloured one in such a way. It's hard to work out exactly what it's supposed to convey. Maybe the total sky background does not help because somehow it looks the wrong way up, and also maybe the darker side should be behind the much fainter building.

I don't mind the black and white images against a coloured background. However usually the fainter part of the sky is generally near the horizon. Also I would do away with the white rectangle and place the author and title in a contrasting colour on the blue sky. But I am not a professional like Ron.

I too am at a loss. It is a very nice picture of the church but, to fit in the tower, the church became too small, was too low down on the page and became overwhelmed by all that blue sky. I also found the book title on the white rectangular background rather brutal. Could that somehow be softened?
I am not for one moment suggesting I would have done better as I am much better with words than artwork. One of the more arty people on this forum will come up with some suggestions. But I did like the photo of the church and hope that won't be lost.

There's also the possibility that up to 15mm will be trimmed off the non-bound edges when the book is made, so it's best to stay away from the edges!

I, too, am almost at a loss for words.
"Unexciting" is very much an understatement.
There is a lot of text in not very large type all set together in a white box like a label.
Putting the bits and pieces of the church together the way you have done is very confusing. For one thing, for anyone not privy to the circumstances explained in the book, the cover looks like an image of a single building. At first glance, it's not even immediately apparent that one structure is in color and the other in black and white. Then, when it does become apparent, there is no obvious reason why there are two parts to the cover image. It's probably not even necessary to say what an odd decision it was to truncate the one church in order to get it to fit into the cover.
