Quarantine? What the heck is that? Why not just delete it, then delete the user, hunt down the IP address they posted from and ban that? Use your fangs and claws, Benziger!

Such posters often keep changing IPs, but the site being advertised remains the same. It's they who need to be accosted. Oddly, this new actually registered user, was on the site for hours before spamming it. But why even create an account here when you can post as a guest? Which to be honest, is that even a good idea? and where is the I Am Not A Robot tool that most sites seem to have?

It's not quite that simple: On the one hand, we don't want to scare off new serious members, but on the other hand, we don't want to let these Vietnamese advertising guys in. Then we have to be content with what the platform provides us here.
I have now found a solution to which we can simply continue to contribute. In some cases, however, the contribution will be sent into quarantine (you do not have to be afraid). - If it is a contribution from the SPAM butchery, I will delete it (so please do not attach any comments) and block the corresponding account and IP number. However, I am not permanently online. - If the contribution is serious, it can be activated by some long-established forum participants. This can prevent long waiting times. In the appropriate case, a corresponding menu appears at the top. (In order to prevent spammers from breaking this protection, I will not explain in detail any security measures taken in this tread.)

Lulu, and other forums, often have a Report This button. Somehow it alerts admin often even via their mobilephone, so they can take steps ASAP.

If the admin would work in an office, this would be a good solution, but as he works in with people, in situations where external interference must not occur, his mobile phone is switched off during working hours. But it is true: The possibility exists to report posts. BlueAndGold has already done this. But then the posts are there until they are deleted, while with the quarantine they are not seen.

As Mag2024 was not shure if she would recognize a quarantised post, I created a new account and posted a nonsense post. That is what I saw: In the yellow banner under my post, I am told, that I have to wait a short time until the post is reviewed.
On the other side, logged in as me, I had two notifications: One in the menu bar at the menu Quarantined with a little number telling me how many posts are in quarantine (marked with red circle). Furthermore, when I had a look to the post, I saw a yellow banner...
I think it's striking enough that at least one of our moderators sees this when he logs in.

So, how long goes this "quarantine approval" go on for? Is there a point when I'm finally trusted not to "infect" the rest of the contributing members? LOL! Or do all post always need approval before being added to the board?

No idea! I can click Approve, once seeing what it is. But it does not seem to stick!

From what I can tell, my sixth post was not quarantined. So, I'm not sure if it was a number thing or if it was just timing. Anyway, it appears as though I'm no longer a danger.

It's a spam trap. I assume the originator of this forum has full control over it, but he's not been around for a long time

I think it used to be 8, but apparently it's now 6. Welcome aboard!

It's a spam trap. I assume the originator of this forum has full control over it, but he's not been around for a long time Unfortunately, there's always a need to filter out those nefarious posters. I've struggled with them on my retro forum, as well. That's a shame the administrator isn't taking part any longer. But, someone must be approving posts. At least one person here must have moderator privileges, if the forum's admin isn't participating any longer.

I believe there are currently 3 [three] moderators, since one moderator deleted their account and later came back as a regular user.
If you need the admin, contact Benziger.
