We have numerous books with ISBNs and on Global Distribution. I want to change the payee on each of these books to a different PayPal account. I assumed it would be a simple screen. But, when I click on "Revise", I am taken through every imaginable screen in the Lulu wizard, including re-uploading the book contents - none of which I want to do.
The first screen "Select a Product Type" has a most curious message - "This section can't be changed when version was created". I've read and re-read this but still have no idea what it means. The individual words are English but the sentence isn't.
Then come pages for "Copyright", "Design" and "Details".
The "Design" page starts with the following message: "Full Bleed: Please note that a white Bleed margin has been added to your file. The book preview will show how this Bleed margin impacts your file. If you require image content that extends to the trimmed edge of the page, please upload a PDF prepared for Full Bleed."
The cover preview does indeed show that an ugly coloured margin has been added to my previously perfect front and back covers. But, I don't want to change anything - just to change the payee.
I eventually reach the screen where I can change the payee (i.e. email address of the required PayPal account). I haven't plucked up courage yet to change anything. If I do, will this "bleed" issue ruin my covers? We have sold hundreds of books and I don't want Lulu to muck up the covers when all I want to do is change the payee.

I do not know about the new set up at Lulu, but in the old one you did not have to use Revise to change things that had nothing to do with the cover or contents. In one's Project list, you just clicked on the book's title and a page opened with items like pricing, description for web sites, age rating, and all other adjustable details not part of, as I say, the actual cover or the contents. (Although that page did used to also allow you to download the PR PDFs of both the cover and the contents).

The individual words are English but the sentence isn't. Apparently, the cover will be the same for the revised version. All you have to check before ordering a copy is whether it has number 2 (red arrow), number one being reserved for the previous edition kept by Lulu.

Fair enough. But I am not trying to create a new edition. I don't want to order a new proof copy etc etc.
I just want to change the email address of the payee. Why does Lulu's wizard threaten to wreck my covers with the mysterious bleed? It doesn't make sense.

Your best option is to raise a support ticket at Lulu Press or live chat them while they're open.

sirram, don't click on REVISE. Simply Click on the project's title in your list of projects. That will take you to a screen with many options across the top like Start, Copyright, Design, Details, PRICING AND PAYEES, and Review. Surely by clicking on PRICING AND PAYEES you can do what you are after. Right?

I have seen others say that now for any change at all the Project Wizard fires up and you have to go right through it, and buy another Proof.

I altered pricing on a couple of projects a few weeks ago and had no issues. I didn't have to buy anything. Surely altering payee information is no different.

But all that happened is the whole Revise wizard fired up, the same as when I previously clicked "Revise". I will have a Chat with Lulu later to try and clarify.

Lulu's chat facility is excellent and I now have the answer to my question. 1. When you click on "Revise", click immediately on the "Pricing and Payees" button. One can go straight there without working through the preceding screens. Also, if just the payee info is being changed, one doesn't need to order a new proof copy. 2. The second part of the reply was a revelation. If you do happen to click on the "Design" button, and even if you don't upload revised PDFs, you still get a preview of how the front and back covers will look. The first attachment (below) is what concerned me as it looked like my covers would from now on have those ugly margins. The trick is to turn off the four sliders above the image. The second attachment shows how the cover will actually look. For those of you into single-piece covers, this is no doubt "bleedin' obvious" but, to me, who only ever used Lulu's cover-design wizard, it was wholly non-intuitive.

I believe BlueandGold is correct. Clicking on the project itself should get to the page with all the options. Then choose payments/payee? Then make your changes. I don't think that would count as a revision to the actual book so no new proof should be needed.

My earlier post is "quarantined?" but I agree with BlueandGold on the payee part.
