Hi All, I have a simple issue but it is difficult to explain. Lulu just sent me an email saying that because they are busy the won't be responding to my query. They just gave me all the links to their various design guides. So I am hoping someone else with some Lulu experience can maybe help me out. To be clear: I am a graphic designer, so I went through all of their guides and made sure that I followed the detailed instructions to the letter. I have created a book in Indesign, with their templates etc. and uploaded the interior PDF to what I understand is exactly the specifications requested. The issue is arising on images that are spread across two pages. I created these as single pages where the images align perfectly when the bleeds are trimmed. That is to say, because there is a bleed on the interior of both pages 3mm of the image repeats (into the bleed!). On Lulu's online preview window I am seeing the image repeat, with everything that should be trimmed off by the bleed. Here is an image: Does the online preview show the whole of the spread including the bleeds?! It seems that this is the case. In which case I can proceed. But obviously I am cautious and hesitant because the online preview is showing as wrong (even though I am certain I have followed your instructions and designed it right). My own test PDF that I have exported from Indesign with the bleeds removed shows the image spreads match up perfectly when the bleed is removed in my design. Has any one any advise so that I do not proceed and get a printing error. Other than spend £20 for a single proof hard copy to see whether it works or not.

Why is it "under quarantine"? I didn't save this long post. Does this mean I have to rewrite it?

No, Cavan, it's all fine. It's an anti-spam measure. Your post came through fine.
And that is an excellent question. I too have toyed with the idea of 2-page photo spreads but was not sure if it would work. I'll certainly be interested in hearing Lulu's response.

Lulu have told me in an automated email that they won't respond though.

Cavan: Good question but "Preview 1" in your initial Post doesn't work.
A few years ago, I had a very wide image (too wide for my A5 book). So I chopped the image into two and nudged the two parts to be horizontally aligned. I didn't go into the bleed area (if I understand you correctly). I just ended up with the left- and right-hand parts of my image on the verso and recto pages facing each other. Gap down the middle but that was unavoidable.

That should work now. You can see how their preview shows the bleed around the edge but not the inner and what should line up when trimmed, is showing as wrong. It is increasingly seeming like I may have to pay £20 just to see if I am right or not.

I just replied to Cavan's post but my reply disappeared. Is there a problem with this forum?

I just replied to Cavan's post but my reply disappeared. Is there a problem with this forum? It happens occasionally, though I've had it happen on other sites as well.
