I have sent an email to the email-address on his Swiss bookshop website, alerting him to the spammers and their disruption of the forum, and that it needs a second moderator. We'll see what happens. Until then - no one post any emails, personal urls, or other contact details in this forum - to be sure...

Edit: Other forums are in the same Vietnamese-spam-boat - give serious consideration of another way of keeping 'community dialogue re Lulu POD' going. Forums are slowly becoming 'old hat', obviously for the experienced reasons.

Michael from ProBoards has removed the spam; also our moderator has not been away from the forum for long as you can see in the ProBoard's thread, tho 28 Sep is an eternity for us chatterboxes, I guess. If and when 'benziger' is available to us again, we will make an effort to instal the 'best practice' minimum of 2 additional moderators. I'm quite happy to be a moderator (beware I'm ruthless) - methinks Sphinx Cameron and I have had prior Lulu forum acquaintance ... seems a lifetime ago ...
On another point - it seems by natural progression, this forum is slowly evolving into a 'how-to' forum (as part of the original intent on a broader basis) for those who baulk at the thought of grappling with the new Lulu system (I've had my share of venting - tho the focus was on having my over-sized photo books tossed out, not the upgrade per se), rather than being a 'rant and rave' about Lulu's full stop and cold start of a new system and how much one dislikes it. Lulu still offers aspects of POD that most others don't. Mybestseller.co.uk (the UK label of the Dutch outfit mijnbestseller.nl) comes close, with only the European pricing making it second to Lulu (Lulu is still the only one offering 'direct link' option as part of the free POD service).
There is one thing to remember: Lulu is free - no one has to pay a cent to upload and publish a work - it is therefore at Lulu's discretion what they do with their system, and how they maximise product sales to earn a buck and stay in business, and how they do that, and therefore remain available as a free POD publisher.

We have interacted in the past on the old Lulu Press forum. I believe you had a line of books by a deceased German writer of Westerns you worked on.
On the moderators issue, two preferably three, due to it having always been an uncertain world and how long any of us has is quite indeterminate. Who Benziger chooses is his decision to make.
Regarding complaints about the new Lulu Press system, you have a valid point about it being up to the company in question what it offers and how well it works.
Many of the issues Self Publishers run into tend to be common to publishing in general. As such Benziger changed the title to Self Publishing Pub, a measure of inclusiveness that indicates more than just Lulu Press users are welcome and issues with other publishing platforms may find resolution when enough good minds take on the challenge.
Hopefully Benziger has not run afoul of the virus, as it is mercurial in how it affects various people of differing ages.

I've contacted benziger as I too hoped no one in his family had contracted that foul virus. I read that authorities in Switzerland, where benziger lives, have expressed concern at the rapid rise in covid-19 cases and are urging strict adherence to hygiene rules, as well as contact tracing. He hasn't replied so far.
