I don't understand Lulu's distinction, either.

The individual authors own their respective copyrights. It is spelled out in each volume historically and is mentioned in multiple places in the Terms and Conditions document: You mean people actually read T & Cs?! Some run to 100s of pages. In fact EU laws a long time ago said T&Cs for software at least do not hold legal water because they are often so long, pointlessly, that no one ever reads them.docs.google.com/document/u/1/d/e/2PACX-1vSaCspGlI27Xt2PB3hKVpNeR9Ket4PEKwn7s0Jftxf3wzQ0GYRzvw3GayF7ZCpgHZuWZktbmJUtmWA8/pubYes, SWAG is American (at least) corporate slang for Stuff We All Get as Ron described.
Possibly, but that's not it's true meaning. That's just someone being 'clever'. But the problem always is that some people think that's all it ever meant, and that belief spreads.
And yes, Larika, I received Awesome Lulu SWAG last year. A long long time ago, a friend of mine was a bit of a tealeaf. One night he was stopped by coppers because he was carrying a literal swagbag over his shoulder. What attracted the cops' attention was that the sack was moving and clucking. They asked where he'd got the hens from, and he replied, what hens? What was it? Write a winning story and find out for yourself! Hee hee hee!

Or you could enter under your hubby's name .Lulu would refuse his entry too Kevin, even though he was born in America. He lives in the UK with me. Hrrm, so if someone was living in the USA on a non-USA passport and a non-citizen, they could enter?

I understand that there is a proper copyright indication in the book itself. The issue I had is that there is no mention of copyright in the rules and conditions. I would not enter a contest without knowing in advance who ultimately has the rights to the story or under what conditions the story is being published.

I agree to a point Ron, but often giving away a short story can be an advantage, as long as when published in some manner they also include an Also By and a link to them. And I doubt Lulu will do that.
