Marlies Bugmann emigrated to Tasmania where she translated the famous Karl May books into English. She started out as a book illustrator and designed book covers that stood out for their bold colours and daring shapes. This led to a real passion for writing fiction: over a period of 13 years she translated the adventure novels of the German writer Karl Friedrich May from the western genre. Later, she also wrote animal tales about animals, which are typical for her adopted country. One of these books was featured in the Advent calendar last Wednesday. If you are still looking for a suitable Christmas present for children, grandchildren, nephews, Marlies Bugmann has a suitable selection of books to read aloud or to read by the children themself. She did not only write books in English, but also in her Alemannic mother tongue: Guetnachtgschichtli. This is only suitable for southern Germans, German-speaking Swiss, Vorarlbergers and Alsatians. Here in the forum she found help to put her books back on the market and she generously shared with us the results of her research on alternatives. Now that everything is set up again for her, she has retired to her little bench.

I messaged tasmanianartist Benziger and told her she was featured in the calendar. I hope she visits and sees your lovely post about her and her books.

I've just logged in after an email from benziger. What a lovely festive season surprise - thank you so much to benziger , and to larika for the PM. I really have been busy - with the latest 'pastime' of putting together a 'mecano' set greenhouse - bolt by bolt, including the benches. Oh, the fingers. But reading my life in such succinct brevity cheered me up. If a reader needs some reader feedback on my books, here are oodles of genuine (not bought-for) reader reviews, including school children from the US: - for my Karl May translations: australianfriendsofkarlmay.yolasite.com/reader-feedback-and-comments.php - for my children's books: tasmanianartist.yolasite.com/reader-reviews-and-comments.php(quick reply does not allow me to make the links clickable, the copy/paste mode will have to do. Edit: after posting I realized the forum made the links clickable automatically.) Wishing everyone a blessed festive time, and a disappearing act of the dreaded virus 'inconvenience'. I will make a point of popping in every so often. Cheerio - Marlies
