One of the best things about the English language is its flexibility. I think it was grammarian James Kilpatrick who said that there are really only about a half dozen inflexible rules of English grammar. The rest are more like guidelines. And wee awl no how Spellcheck is knot very reliable. I believe you're correct on the half-dozen inflexible rules though I can't remember where I read it, and betimes guidelines can be important as well.
Then again, my facility with the language is a bit limited and at times, antiquated.

I wish I could remember what the half dozen inviolable rules were! (I recall that making sure that numbers matched---they say, he said---was one). English is a very flexible language, but it's important to know the rules before you can break them.

I tested out for credit on college English, so my ability to properly utilize the idiom is fairly limited compared to those who majored in it.
Come to think of it, I never took a creative writing class.
At least I'm good at creative lopping and sawing-by-hand -- you can almost see the road at the other end of the thicket.

Maybe zoefoster's posting was an advert? I expect it is because how would a customer know that other customers were overjoyed? Also a bit unusual that a customer would call them clients, too.

Well perhaps this way? www.trustpilot.com/review/mermaidpublishers.com but it is highly unusual for all reviewers to give glowing reports. A bit suspect, and they all sound the same. What no normal reviews by trolls like many reviews get? Plus, where's the verified purchase tag? Oh and when I try to look at Mermaid's site I get this - The connection for this site is not secure

Of course it's spam. But it's legitimate spam, on topic, and it might be useful to someone.

Okay, Clients vs Customers is pretty easy. Customers buy products or services from a company; think a loaf of bread or having a personal swimming pool installed. Clients are a type of customer who buy advice and professional solutions from a company; think editing services or investment advice.
The reality is many writers can't edit their own material, as in checking spelling, grammar, and continuity.
Someone will likely need editing services.

Clients are a type of customer who buy advice and professional solutions from a company; think editing services or investment advice. Not as such. Although it's a thin dividing line. Clients are often people who open an account with a professional service because they use it often. I have never had to open an account to buy a loaf. Well, OK, on line grocery shopping you need to, but you know what I mean. Some places call all customers clients because it makes them sound more important, like shop workers are now 'Associates' and not just people you work with. The reality is many writers can't edit their own material, as in checking spelling, grammar, and continuity. True, but I dislike spam that pushed just one such service, when they are 100s. Spam is spam, it's a worry when my PC tells me a site is not safe.Someone will likely need editing services. I am sure many do. They could try Lulu for all of those
Meanwhile.

Yes, people can turn to the 'associates' Lulu Press recommends. Yet someone recommending a different service simply because it's a one-off or 'Bing' tells you not to trust the site. Pulling up the Mermaid Publishers site with Firefox I don't get a warning.
However thin you think it, the line separating customer and client is distinct.

‘Customer’ definition
Definition: In brief, a customer is a person or organization that buys products or services from a business. Stores or restaurants have customers.
‘Client’ definition
Definition: A client is a person or business that pays for personalized or highly professional services like legal advice, graphic design, real estate consultation. For example, it’s commonly considered that attorneys and accountants have clients, not customers.

Some might view it as spam even though I have no current or past association of any sort with the organization. While my recommendation might be considered spam, it's still a valid alternative.
Time to count how many cans of SPAM I have in the kitchen.

Spam is spam. Someone for example, opening a forum account just to post an advert.
However thin you think it, the line separating customer and client is distinct. Well I thought it was. But often it depends on the type of business service on offer. If it's expensive then they call you a client.

There were definitions, now it depends on how pretentious the people offering a service is as to what they call people. Client sounds posher.
