Has anyone else noticed that, on an ipad or iphone, if you click on a link to a Lulu book page, the "back button" on your browser doesn't work to take you back to the referring site? It just seems to be a one-way link, stuck on the Lulu page. The only way to get out of the Lulu page is to either close the browser and start over, or else manually enter a different URL into the browser window. Safari and Chrome. (The back button seems to work on Chrome on my desktop.)
Anyone else have this problem, backing out of the Lulu site?

I went to a page of one of my books, then clicked to go back to the previous page and it took me right back to the beginning of the book. Lulu's still got some work to do to get things right.

It’s nothing to do with Lulu. It’s a browser function.

It’s nothing to do with Lulu. It’s a browser function. FYI, web sites can (and sometimes do) disable the back function of browsers. Sometimes this is done intentionally and maliciously, and other times it's a result of poor coding. Such sites are sometimes called "black holes", and in the coding world it's referred to as "hijacking the back button". It can be done (sometimes inadvertently) by having the site automatically re-direct you to another URL, and then when you click the back button, it just sends you to the original link, which re-directs you to the alternate link again, an infinite loop. Or it can be done by an intentional script that hijacks the back button. The "back" button of the browsers, for both Chrome and Safari, on both ipad and iphone, works fine, with one exception: Lulu. Based on this, I think it's reasonable to surmise that it has something to do with the Lulu site, probably due to some automatic re-directing that is having untended consequences for ipad and iphone browsers. I haven't tried any Android devices. So, my question is: Has anyone else had problems with the "back" button on the Lulu site when using ipad or iphone?

I don't use "i" products, but I can report that Mozilla Firefox on both Android and Win7 and Win10 platforms works fine on Lulu.

I still think it’s you browser or connection.
Why on earth would Lulu choose to disable it?

I still think it’s you browser or connection. Why on earth would Lulu choose to disable it? Again, on reputable web sites it is typically inadvertent, usually due to the site automatically re-directing links to a modified URL (e.g., containing page format suffixes), and then when you click the back button (in some browsers on some platforms), it just sends you to the original unmodified URL, which automatically re-directs you back to the modified URL again, and so on. That's why I asked if any iphone or ipad users have seen this problem. I sent a query to Lulu, so I'll see if they can shed any light on it.

I've encountered this with some other websites. A complete mess and no way to go back. Like a nasty loop.

BTW I’m not aware of anyone, apart from you, with problems on IOS To be clear, are you saying you know people who have navigated to Lulu product pages on iphones or ipads, and they have told you that when they clicked on the back button it promptly returned them to the referring site? Or are you just saying no one (apart from me) has mentioned this subject to you?

Which question would you like answered? Not bad, Ken. Nice enough. He/She is just venting and reaching out.

Yes. That's interesting, because Lulu support was able to duplicate the problem I described, and confirm that it affects some (but not all) Lulu product pages for iphone and ipad users. So far they haven't figured out why it affects some Lulu pages and not others. I sent them some examples of both. I've also noticed that all Lulu product pages (accessed on all platforms) exhibit a slightly unusual behavior of the back button that seems related to auto-redirects, although on most platforms clicking the back button twice in a row usually over-rides it. I polled several other users, and they all see the same things. I'm hoping Lulu support will be able to get to the bottom of it, since (for obvious reasons) I really don't want to have links on my website to pages that disable the return button for some common platforms.
