Forum of Independent Publishers from lulu.com offering free tips, information, guidance and a friendly environment to help you produce the best book you can.
We are peers who also use lulu.com. We do not work for lulu. We met there and created this forum to keep in touch and to help others like us. Some of us have been using lulu since 2004, others just joined this year.
Welcome!

A lovely welcome to our forum Maggie. I couldn't believe all the free help I got making my books in lulu.com. I was retired from teaching and my son told me about lulu. In 2008 I joined Lulu Press the online print-on-demand, self–publishing, and global book distribution platform. I was not very competent using the computer but with the help of forum members I was able to master the intricacies of making a book. Maggie you probably don't remember but you praised a poem I'd written and boosted my confidence, as I'd just started creative writing. You were an influence for good in the old forums and continue to be so in the new one. Unfortunately there were one or two forum members who discouraged us beginners and said we brought down the standard of books in lulu. Fortunately there were other members who defended our right to be there.

The world needs beginners, and so does every publishing site. They are the enthusiastic ones who produce the most. When I first started I was married to a computer programmer who was writing code to merge PDF pages so that I could make a book. I stared at him while he worked and thought, there has to be an easier way to make a book. Why do I need to know code? And guess what, there was and is. That is why we need the help of peers. Shortcuts, tricks. They count for a lot. Just a funny bit: I made 19 versions of my first book, and if I had the source files I would redo it again.

In the beginning we would be two handful. Now there are three times as many.
And in these seven months there was obviously a lot to write: 5445 posts. Not a round number, but a nice one; a palindrome number.
A special thank you to all active members. Thank you to all helpers and questioners!
