The Beatles are great, but Elvis is no chump. I only knew the first line of Hound Dog and sang it all the way to Platania as Smart and Hero followed me (my street dogs, who finally have names -- and vaccines😉). The stray dogs where I am are overfed, overcared for and happy.I bought them three kinds of food yesterday, hoping the would eat. The problem? Everyone feeds them. People stop their car on their way to work, go into the dep, buy food, empty on the sidewalk, and off they go.Greeks are very kind people. What is reported is not reality. When I was in Canada I thought, wow, a lot of stray dogs. Greeks don't value them. So untrue. Besides caring for the strays, they each have one or two dogs of their own.Mag2024 I'm so glad that the Greeks care for their stray dogs. I know in some countries the poor strays are stick thin and totally uncared for. We humans have an obligation to look after dogs. We domesticated them and now they are dependant on humans. Eventually they may learn to live without us by learning new survival skills. However many would die. Large-breed dogs could do better than very small dogs like Shih Tzus or giant breed dogs like Great Danes.
Hopefully our best friends will not have to experience life without us humans any time soon.

My cousin told me a story about five dogs in his neighbourhood that were stealing everyone's shoes. Shortly afterward, they were all dead. Poisoned. Very sad. |
