Still only 24 members here and some are not active. I hope this forum continue, but we definitely need a link from the Lulu Press to here. Maybe it will happen if they see the number of people making books there decrease because there are no forum helpers! I fear however, as my friend was constantly saying, "Chance would be a fine thing."

Have you ever watched a child, kitten, or tree grow?
Same principle applies, if you watch them the growth isn't apparent, but the moment you look away and quit paying attention they grow by seeming leaps and bounds.
The key is giving things the time to grow in their own time.

I administered and moderated a phpbb forum for about 13 years. It is now defunct. I watched it grow from a half dozen to over 800 members in that time. And then it declined to the point that there were only 3 or 4 participants. Then the plug was pulled.
As Sphinx said, things have a life cycle. Let's water it and see how it grows.

There is a zero chance Lulu will add a link to this website on their website. Zero. They spent years directing users to Live Chat, Support, etc. Easier to manage responses.
We are variable and unpredictable.

One problem with managing responses is that often a canned approach to problem solving overlooks the underlying issues causing the problems as well as potential solutions that often work as well or better than the canned approaches.
The harder a company works to 1] limit the clients' ability to make contact while 2] trying to manage responses to fit a script the more likely clients 3] either get fed up and complain [like filing a BBB complaint] or find a different service provider entirely.
There is something to be said for variable and unpredictable; it often leads to creative thinking.

Cameron, love your response. And that is the very thing that makes people make books which leads to more money for lulu.com which will ensure employees keep their job and publishers have the original free POD as a publishing option. Micromanaging Control Limiting Stunting speech Robotic rehearsed responses. All killers.
and against everything writers stand for. The very market using PODs.

There are some ideas here: lulu.boards.net/thread/71/findabilityProbebaly Lulu's clients do not want a forum, but just in the moment, they wants some help, they should find the forum... At the moment are some links in the old lulu forum until this will be removed :-( (If you have a website, you may put a link there and every time, you come here, use this link instead to come directly, so Google & Co see, that every day people use your link - so it has to be an important one... and as your website is also about books, it's relevant trafic.)

The Lulu Do-It-Yourself crowd uses the fora as they need it or just to chat with other writers / artists, the people paying for services likely don't unless they don't see a good Return On Investment and decide to see if they can do better on their own.
When I was active on GoodReads there was a guy gushing over the book he'd had published [something on his bucket list] and he couldn't see the difference between using a vanity publisher and being and Indie or Traditionally Published.
It's all about perspective and what motivates a person to do what they do.

Yes, and to be perfectly honest: When Lulu created the Forums, besides mailing lists, Forums was pretty much the only interactive thing on the Internet. And now? Facebook, WhatsApp, wikis, etc. etc. and then, besides Lulu, 99 competitors who also offer the same exchange possibilities. Let's let the community grow slowly and be happy that we don't get 400 urgent requests every day . Thanks to the first 24, all newcomers feel welcome and find a lot of content already. That is an important basis.

Cameron, I suspect all original ideas will return. It's much more fulfilling to have input from several people at once than just one on one.

Who added that comment? Was it lulu or you or an anonymous person? Maybe Paul.
