Anyone here closed their Lulu account? How long did it take for the books to go offline? Also are you still getting payments from Lulu from previous months? Thinking of changing some things and need more info.

I would guess that any of your books that have gone into circulation will remain on Internet sites for ever. Any sales request for new copies will just not be serviced. Probably most for copies from other vendors will probably be false and also not serviced.
On closing your Lulu account none of your books should be shown on their site.

How do I cancel my account?
Cancelling your account is a permanent, irreversible action. Purchases you downloaded such as ebooks will no longer be available to download from your account. If you published downloadable content that has been purchased, that content will be removed from the Lulu Bookstore and will no longer be available for purchase; however, a copy will remain on our servers so that previous buyers can continue to download it from their Lulu account. Please, review our Privacy Policy for more information about how Lulu collects and uses your Data.
Please Note: If you have published projects in your Lulu account, your projects will be retired. If your books are sold through Lulu’s Global Distribution network, we will notify retail sites to discontinue sales of your books.
Lulu reserves the right to continue supplying ebooks you made available for download to purchasers who bought them prior to the cancellation of your account.
To cancel your account at this time, log in your account and go to My Account > Account Settings. Click on Cancel Your Account. Confirm by clicking on Cancel My Account. If you have changed your mind, click on Keep My Account.

14. Lulu.com Retirement of Content, Termination of Membership, and Data and Content Retention Policies
You may choose at any time to retire your published Content on Lulu.com. Should you do so, the Content will not be visible to other users and will not be available for sale on the Lulu.com Site. Retired Content will be deleted from Lulu’s database after a defined period of time, as set forth in the then current policies of Lulu.
However, for all Content listed through distribution channel partners that you choose to retire, (1) this process will take several business days before the distribution channel partner takes any action, and (2) your Content may still be listed by the distribution channel partners and, while not available for sale, it may continue to be listed and shown as “unavailable,” “out of stock,” or the like.
Net Revenue received by Lulu prior to distribution channel partners disabling the ability of your retired Content to be sold, will continue to be subject to the Terms and Creator Revenue shall be paid to you when applicable.
If your Content has not been published, you can delete it from your Project List and it will be removed from the Lulu database, subject to our archiving process. This type of draft Content will be deleted from Lulu’s database after a defined period of time, as set forth in the then current policies of Lulu.
You may terminate your membership by following the “Cancel My Lulu Account” link on the My Projects > My Account & Orders > About Me page, or by contacting support with a specific request to do so. Your request to terminate will become effective within 30 days after the acknowledgement by Lulu of the receipt of your request. All terms above regarding retiring or deleting Content continue to be applicable.
Lulu will retain any part of your Personal Data for as long as is reasonably required to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected. Data retained in backups will be removed only as the backups are purged in the normal course of Lulu’s backup procedures.
Generally, your Content will only remain accessible for defined periods of time, depending on the type of Content (e.g., retired, unpublished draft, prior revisions, questionable content, years without sales, etc.). This type of Content will be deleted from Lulu’s database after a defined period of time, as set forth in the then current policies of Lulu. Accordingly, LULU STRONGLY RECOMMENDS THAT YOU DO NOT RELY UPON LULU AS A STORAGE SITE FOR YOUR CONTENT.

If you want to be sure, you create two pointless test books (booklets with a minimum number of pages), which you publish on Lulu on two specially created accounts and order one copy each. Then you delete the first account and only the book on the second account. Then you see if the money for the book comes from the deleted account... My approach is rather: withdraw books from global distribution and keep the account "dormant". If someone then orders through Lulu's bookshop, ok. But you can also set the books to private. I would only balance the account when everything has been paid out.

I retired the Lulu print versions of three books [hardcover and paperback] as soon as the retire option was made available again in July 2020. This is almost a year later.
The Lulu print versions going offline is still ongoing with some vendors saying unavailable or temporarily out of stock while vanishing on Amazon slowly.
One book is showing only the Kindle version I did through KDP.
One book is showing the Kindle done through KDP and the Lulu paperback.
One book is showing the Kindle done through KDP and both the Lulu hardcover and paperback.
It may take a while for book listings to go away for a deleted Lulu Press account. In terms of speed think molasses flowing uphill on a freezing winter morning.

I understand the books will slowly disappear from sites. Although the paperbacks on Amazon will stay listed as unavailable. What I'm wondering though if the account is deleted, would any residual sales still be paid to the account if it's closed. The knowledge base does not mention that and contacting support will take too long. Much like the molasses running uphill.I'd just like to cut off ties books and income from lulu for good.
Edit: Never-mind I see that answer in Ken's post. Thanks!

I'd say with the way payments usually are "two months behind" by the third month or so it will be down to nothing. What I'm hoping anyway.

Anyone here closed their Lulu account? How long did it take for the books to go offline? Also are you still getting payments from Lulu from previous months? Thinking of changing some things and need more info. Hi there yes my account well 1 of them was closed by lulu as they said my book was porn when it was erotica. It had the usual tags adult erotic over 18. Lulu never relisted a few of my titles after i increased the price up from their minimum allowed. The prices changed but some books were delisted. I asked them to relist them and they did within 2 days. All was good for a short time then 1 ebook was flagged by a certain site as porn not erotica. Lulu used this reason to delete my acc. This went hand in hand with my complaint on unpaid revenues for books sold since December to May. Lulu content dept deemed the book porn and shut my acc. I was in the middle of relisting my books on rival sites so they did me a favour. I shut my no2 account. My books went off some sites like Barnes and Noble and Kobo within a couple of days. The rest will follow. I had last revenue payment in April on my pen name number 2 lulu acc. I had no revenue paid since December (for November sales) onwards on my main writing acc on lulu. Hope this helps.

Thanks Nick. Sorry about your experience with LULU. When I joined six years ago, they were great. After the update last year everything went downhill.

Thanks Nick. Sorry about your experience with LULU. When I joined six years ago, they were great. After the update last year everything went downhill. It's ok thanx i have moved on and lived and learned thru the years with both lulu and other sites. We need to grow right and this all adds to it. I feel sad how lulu went bad as they were almost perfect for so long. If it's not broke don't fix it i think...

I deleted my account Friday night. My books are already gone from Barnes and Noble. A few paperbacks versions are missing on Amazon but the ebooks are still there. On Apple only two of my ebooks are up. Scribd still has everything up. I'm thinking that is pretty fast especially since Lulu would be off for the weekend. Or the books were missing already and Lulu screwed up again....This has happened before. But in either case taking a break from the whole book thing for a bit. I will work on my dad's book and may create a new account at Lulu just for it. Make it private or no ISBN just for family members or something.
