Oh eM Gee ... for some reason I suddenly remembered Lulu and this forum, so thought I'd drop in - and am seriously wondering WHAT REALLY went on. Having to witness this painfull destruction of something that was working so well still drives tears to my eyes. This is not merely a matter of an upgrade/date gone wrong - it is a sinking ship. Those that are left to deal with the aftermath have no way of coping with this mayhem.
I'm still glad that I signed over my 30+ translation to the German indie publisher (somewhere between indie and traditional, works well) six months before the 'big bang'. Now they're all selling well on Amazon, something I would not have had the money or time or skills for. All my other books are on 'Mybestseller' in the Netherlands - at least they were still there when I checked a few minutes ago (sigh of relief), and a few private ones are ghosting on Lulu.
Mybestseller has got a small square format that'll do me well for when I'll ever have the inclination to create another 'photo album' for my private bookshelves. Other than that, I feel for you guys if you're still suffering through this myseria without a resolution at the end of the tunnel. I'm retired from writing and producing books and will let sleeping lulu books lie without touching them.
Now I'm busy learning GIMP ... I understand the principle is the same as with all other image manipulation software packages, but by gee ... I never knew how many different names the same function can have. Or how many different functions can be attached to the same icon from system to system ... yeiks ...
Anyway, just popped in to say hello - a dark, rainy winter's day, just days ahead of the shortest day seems to be the most appropriate time for it.
Wishing everyone (those who know me and those who don't) successful passage through both, the Lulu disaster and the continuing Covid pandemic (they seem to be going hand in hand) ... it'll take a while longer.
If I remember, I'll pop in around Xmas again - until then - don't cry over spilt milk and move on to something better, whatever shape that'll take.
Cheerio
