I am trying to understand "global distribution" a little better. This is especially important for authors and editors of non-English books.
I have noticed that books in German language I distribute through Epubli (in Germany) only appear on Amazon.de. Books that I put on IngramSpark, on the other hand, appear on Amazon.com, Amazon.com.br, Amazon.ca, Barnes & Nobles, etc., but only one also on Amazon.de (if Ingram has printers in the UK, France and Germany, it makes little sense to order the book in the USA or Brazil!) - And what about the 39,000 bookshops? In which countries are they? First clues can be found at Ingram: There you can download a fact sheet for each main market. There, not only the market is presented in detail (incl. optimum discount levels!), but also the partners and the distribution area. On the basis of the partners, certain things can be assumed. Since the German Ingram printer BoD is a subsidiary of the bar retailer Libri, one can assume that the books listed at Ingram should be available overnight in the stationary German-language book shops, at least on order. Is this true? Is this true for IngramSpark? or for LightningSource? or both? Despite the detailed information (see above), there is still a lot to be clarified.
This thread is for Global Distribution - regardless of language area.

Lightning Source provides service for mid-size to large publishers.
Perhaps sending an email to IngramSpark would provide the needed clarification.
