I had no trouble writing reviews on Amazon and I thought anyone could write a review if they purchased the book. However apparently that is not the case. I found this on google. "To submit reviews, customers must make a minimum amount of valid debit or credit card purchases. Prime subscriptions and promotional discounts don’t qualify towards the purchase minimum. For more information, see our Customer Review Guidelines." Of course I had bought many eBooks plus other items on Amazon so I clearly am eligible. However I feel if one purchases a book from Amazon one should be allowed to write a review of the book.

I agree. Once you purchase an item, you should be able to review it. Amazon UK tells me I am not egible because I have not spent £40 per month. Funny though how they take an extortionate slice of money from my pubished books.

Hulsey, that must be an Amazon UK policy. In the US, I've been reviewing items from time to time for a number of years and I've certainly never spent that much on a monthly basis!

Hulsey, that must be an Amazon UK policy. In the US, I've been reviewing items from time to time for a number of years and I've certainly never spent that much on a monthly basis! Have you been reviewing lately? I used to be able to review the books I bought, but not anymore, as I never spend 50€ a month. Often a book in the marketplace only costs a few cents and 3€ postage.
What's there to say? On the one hand Amazon wants to seduce us into buying more. So we should be consumers and not readers... On the other hand, the book reviews of serious readers who don't buy two, three or more books every month (hopefully) help Amazon to sell more. In fact, I can't really understand that.
PS. A couple of years ago, you could also rate books you didn't buy. What I promptly did: A dictionary that used its own spelling, not the official one. The buyer should actually know that (and that was the reason why I didn't buy it).

Yes, I reviewed a book on Amazon (US) just a few weeks ago. Maybe something has changed since then?

I review in the US and Canada. I wait to be asked. They are suspicious if you go out of your way to review anything. Best to wait for the invitation email.

This is my latest review of hulsey's book
"I am constantly surprised at the cleverness of Anthony Hulse's books. I have read several of them and am impressed with each and every one.I have just finished his "Devil's Deceit". The story takes place after the end of the second world war and shows the damage that was done by rhe evil Nazis and particularly their cruelty to Jews. In the book we read that post war Nazis are being viciously murdered in The UK and the English detectives are determined to find the murderer. Running parallel with this storyline is that of a Jew who is dtermined to get revenge on the Nazi who killed his family. The book is well constructed and meticulously researched. You will not regret buying this excellent book."
The review is in Amazon UK. Amazon.com wouldn't let me post a review on their site.
