I love statistics. These three add-ons give you endless statistics. So thrilling. Now, my question; it says Google is blocked. Should I unblock Google? In the Disconnect app.
Completely wild stats. There's already three blocks in Ghostery and 19% requests blocked in ublock.

it says Google is blocked. Should I unblock Google? In the Disconnect app. This is not the search engine, but other tools operated by Google that allows the site owners to have some statistics and Google a lot of information about you. Personally, I turn off function only, if I had to do it that a site runs as expected.

I've kept all three. The only thing that almost disabled my computer, as in the screen was grey for a long long time and wouldn't load, is the software Kevin had recommended. I uninstalled it.

Do you mean Zonealarm Maggie? Also recommended by Benziger and used by millions? Do note that in order to install some protection software you have to temp disable other protection software, and often not have multi protection running at the same time. They conflict with each other. Also note that some software is specific to the type of Windows running. As to stats and reports. Zonealarm detects almost everything flowing on and off PCs, and they can all be a worry, but what a lot of people do not realise is that even your ISP plants Cookies on to your PC that sends data to them. Almost everything you open on the internet will plant a cookie or many. Most are harmless, so as auto-log in or even those What You Previously Viewed on sites like Amazon. I was at first aghast at what Zonealarm told me when I first used it, but there used to be an add-on for it that actually traced the physical address of where the data was going to, and in my case it was AOL! It even had a tool that allowed you to 'ping' their servers at that address with a warning. Anyway, as to Windows. It's often easier to bring out new versions than keep patching old ones. W8 was not much liked because it looked very different. W10 overcame that by allowing the user to use the old User Interface as an option. It's also much faster and the built in protection much better. But I have to admit that I never upgrade Windows when new versions come out, because it costs money! However, when you buy a new or newish PC they always have the latest Windows on them. Having said that, MS offered a free upgrade to W7 and 8, so you will also find it on quite old PCs. I used to give advice on gaming sites, games for PCs that is, and very often the problem people were having was their PC was not powerful enough to run it! ('Min Specs' are nonsense.) The only answer was to spend money upgrading their PC, more RAM, a better Graphics Card, or even a Graphics card because many PCs do not have one. Better CPU, etc etc. In the long run cheaper to just buy a new PC that already has the required power +. Do not forget that the more protection you have running on a PC, the more power being eaten up in the background, not to mention all the things that open in the background when you turn it on. A lot of it under meaningless names! And some can actually be disabled. Type MSCONFIG in to the Taskbar search window and click on the link, then see what is there, but don't mess with anything unless you know what you are doing!

Yes, Kevin, that is what I mean. I think you have to know what you're doing to install that. Besides. I pay for McCafee and I have all kinds of other stuff installed. Too risky for me as it didn't go smoothly.
