I retired the ebook just now.. But I see it is still showing of course in distribution channels..
My question though is if people try to buy the ebook through dist or Lulu itself will it come up as unavailable? Which is a requirement before I enroll in the KDP select program.
I am afraid to enroll in the select prog. till its clear what the situation is. THx for any advice!

I am afraid to enroll in the select prog. till its clear what the situation is. THx for any advice! I retired the hardcopy versions of three books when Lulu Press made the option available again back in July 2020. I have not contacted Lulu Press or downstream vendors to speed up the process, because while I intend to rerelease the books I'm taking care of other things before I plunk down a chunk of money for a block of ISBNs.
At this point, a year-and-a-half later, on Amazon one book is showing 'temporarily out of stock' for both hardcover and paperback, one is 'temporarily out of stock' for hardcover with no paperback version showing, while the third is only showing the kindle version as both the hardcover and paperback versions have finally gone away.
You might need to contact Lulu Press to try to speed things up, though per the terms and conditions part 14 books can be listed for unspecified periods of time through the distribution channels. www.lulu.com/terms-and-conditions
You might also want to contact Amazon KDP and ask them how to proceed.

Amazon, at least, never remove a listing of even a deleted book. They say it's just in case stock or a used one pops up for sale by some other vendor on Amazon, and a link from the 'main' page will go to it. Very general really, and perhaps not valid with most POD books, or even more so with e-books.

Perhaps that's Amazon UK, as even though it's taking time I have retired print books slowly disappearing from the Amazonian thicket.

It's the same on Amazon worldwide as far as I know. I have spoken to Amazon about it, and it's just the stock reply. "It's our policy."

Amazon can be a bit deceptive.
One of my hardbacks is still on Amazon USA, for example, even though deleted at Lulu years ago. In a general search of my name, bringing up all my content there, it is listed as unavailable, but click on it to bring up its individual page it does not say unavailable. I just wonder what would happen if someone found that page direct and tried to order it? It's no longer at Lulu (although I suspect the files used to create it are still there in one of my folders.)

Lilium Saffron Dewbell, Parts 1 & 2, [both Hardback and Paperback] shows 'Temporarily out of stock' on the list of titles as well as when clicked on, as I just checked them both. Perhaps what you're seeing is due to cached cookies.

Amazon started as simply a seller of used books. Then they started selling new books, then everything else. If there are used books out there, they may be sold at Amazon once again.
