I am publishing the updated version of my grand-parents' biography. It's a private book in two volumes. The first edition dates back to about a decade ago, when I gave a copy to each family of my relatives. This time, I don't want to be so generous, and I think it preferable to have them pay for their set. I plan to charge 1€ per volume for my work. They would have to pay 10.11 + 1 = 11.11€ for volume I, and 7.93 + 1 = 8.93€ for volume II + tax + postage. For this I'll have to resort to the "direct access" option. Have you ever used it for a private book? Here are the covers.

There's times when one wishes to also send copies direct from Lulu to reviewers etc., and it would be ideal to add a note to the order. Much requested of Lulu, not as yet happened.

If Lulu / printer / shipper could include a short line of text on the packing slip from the author to the receiver it would be a HUGE help, in some instances.

There is a generic 'Thankyou for buying ...' which if I recall correctly, is sent by email. Otherwise to include a note, a 'With compliments/sent as agreed,' etc., one has to have it mailed to one's self, add a letter, mail it onwards.

Apparently "direct access" is for books made public, not for private "books". I'll have to redefine the biography of my paternal grandparents.
