So, I'm sitting here watching the stats on al my new software, and Facebook pops up as being defended against; and I haven't even gone to Facebook or looked them up. Last time they asked me to participate in Face Recognition, the creepiest of all things, and I vowed never to log in again.
Anyway, how on earth is Facebook able to even know my computer exists since I've gone nowhere near it. If anyone knows, because this is becoming creepy.

Facebook owns Instagram and Whatsapp.
Facebook bought Instagram in 2012 for $1bn (£760m), and WhatsApp in 2014 for $19bn. The App Annie ranking highlights just how much power and control Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has. The four main apps that Zuckerberg oversees boast more than a billion users each.Dec 18, 2019
Talk about a monopoly over information.
Interesting.
Millions of WhatsApp users can delete the messenger in 2020. Starting December 31, 2019, WhatsApp will end its support of the devices running Windows Mobile operating system.
And interesting.
WhatsApp co-founder tells everyone to delete Facebook

FacePain makes its money by dealing in information as well as advertisements, and not in the best interests of its end-users.
One of two possible scenarios applies [though there could be others]. Either some programmer has a bot web-crawling possibly trying to spy on different systems and it's spoofing its identity as FacePain or there is some program on your computer that works for FacePain without you knowing about it.

That's interesting; some program on my PC works for FacePain. I'll do some research. I have none of their apps as far as I know. Anyway, as Blue suggests, I'll stop worrying.

As long as you have software blocking the intrusion you should be good.

Every time you come to a website where you can "like" to the page, this feature is software from Facebook. When you click, it is associated with your account there. But if you block cookies and scripts from third party sites (e.g. with disconnect, ghostery, etc.), you are on the safer side. The same is for Google's +1 and statistics.
Maybe you have still some old stuff on your computer. You can set your browser to delete cookies when you close the browser. OK, then you just have to enter the password again or to use a password manager... Convenience has its price too.

I clean once I get offline, and after every little thing I do, even offline. I also go into Firefox option adn delete cookies and data and history.
But that Facebook guy... he asked me to opt into Facial Recognition last time I went. Big Brother and Brave New World and all that.
