Lulu color books are not expensive. For a 116-page 6x9 book, standard color, paper 60# white, the manufacturing cost is only 6.02€. It's a photo-novel for adults. I illustrated it with screen captures of the game Sims4. EA, the company that owns this game, did not allow me to use the pictures for a public book, so I have to keep it private. I am telling you all this because I am surprised some authors say the color books and too expensive. Judge the quality by yourselves. The pictures below are screen capture of the Lulu PDF files.

Lulu's prices have certainly changed since I last looked then. I too play Sims4. With all the DLCs it becomes a very expensive game! or Sim to be precise. Strange what you say about EA. Up to Sims 4, when it was easier to do so, people used to use it to create entire dramas and soap operas, even music gigs, and put them on to Youtube, or their own channels. EA don't actually own the game, they just distribute it. It's created by Maxis and some company called Redwood Shores, but I think they only do Sims 4, so perhaps it's them who object, whereas the people who did Sims 1 to 3 did not? www.youtube.com/watch?v=GwVU5LJRMEU&t=24s that's not a good example because you could remove the UI as well as the above head diamond. This is a better one www.youtube.com/watch?v=E-WKaahVRZ8&t=8s and this was impressive www.youtube.com/watch?v=M9oYHrdsqbU and this was actually a real band, emulated.

EA has a site where you can e-mail them about a commercial use of the pictures generated by the games they distribute. They answered my e-mail. They liked the sample attached, but would not allow me to sell my book to the public, recalling that the pictures belonged to them.

The Triplets videos on YouTube are great. The others you mention didn't play. Doesn't matter. Thanks a lot.

I am puzzled by EA's response because as Sims 4 plays, almost everything is utterly unique. From what the Sims people look like to what they do. To what a house looks like to what the garden looks like. I really don't see how user generated images can be copyrighted. The internet is full of stuff like this >>> www.bing.com/videos/search?q=Sims+4+created+videos&FORM=HDRSC3 do EA try to stop them? no, they cannot. Just the use of the Logo, but they don't seem to stop that either. In reality it's all free marketing for the Sims and EA. I suspect that by asking EA it gave them the opportunity to say, no, whereas if you did not ask they cannot stop you.

JustKevin, I still have the EA answer in my printed archives, but don't have the time to search for it at the moment. When I find it, I'll scan it to display it in this thread.

I have been accosted by potential copyright infringement, twice. The first was over my ideas of what the characters in Discworld looked like. This was actually when you could put downloadable art on to Lulu. Some one clicked the Report Button on them all, and Lulu banned them. One never gets to know who it was. I assumed it may have been Discworld's publishers or whatever. I contacted T. Pratchett's agent and he told me all that can be copyrighted is the Discworld title and logo and entire contents of the books. Character names and descriptions cannot be, so go ahead, nothing to do with them. But I already knew that. But I think by the time I heard that, Lulu had dropped art. The second was the Village People, but as cats. These were on a POD sell your art site. Again reported, no idea who by, and they were removed from the site. I know already that only the name is possibly copyrighted, so I called them Village Cats. But all the same I contacted the Village People's management, a few times, with no replies. After about 8 moths I managed to convince the POD site they cannot be copyrighted, because I already knew that too (although my renditions of them can be ...) and they put them back, but I did change the name to a perhaps unfortunate one.
PS: Why can one not upload or paste images to these posts?

Hrmm. I just tried the Add Attachment option during Edit, and I have no art that's just 1 MB, even compressed. But I wonder why it's only possible under Edit, and not via the Insert Image icon above?

When you create / reply to a thread, click on REPLY at top right, not Quick Reply at lower left. Then you will see icons across the top for adding links, inserting images via external link, videos, etc. There is also the big gray Add Attachment button at the top right with which you can upload up to three images of 1MB each:

The folders on my PC do not have a 'link' and my art is not on a website, so no address. And yes, as I mentioned, I tried the big grey button at the top right, and I am sure I mentioned that I do not have any art of 1mb or below. That is remarkably limited.
All I wanted to do was add an image that was accused of infringing copyright, so it could be seen how it could not. Oh well.
Anyway, back to EA's policies. If one asks, and agrees to them, such as no you cannot, then it's wise not to. But so many people put The Sims 1 2 3 and 4 content on line without asking, it's impossible for them to enforce those policies. And one has to wonder how these people get 'away' with it modthesims.info/ littlemssam.tumblr.com/post/175435360448/mod-overview-list

Reduce the image size to below 1MB, save with an iteration number, then upload.

Well I did not want to go to the bother of resizing an image just for here, but I have. The usual size of that, uncompressed, is around 300mb. And the upload limit is a bit deceptive. The above, opened, is just below 1mb. The file upload, which is compressed, is just 57k! Perhaps it should say a file size of 1mb, and not an image size?

BTW. Originally, when they were reported for copyright infringement, they were called Village Cats.
