They collect everything. They even have other sites requesting permission to collect data for them. But there are things you can do to limit the harvesting of your data. Do not answer the question when you log out, after you've spent 30 minutes on the site. They ask, Is this you? Were you in the right account? Just go to Google, and clear your history. You can also clear your history after every site you visit. Then watch to see if the ads you come across are targeted. Clearing History does not remove planted cookies, it's those that track you, know where you are, etc (not to mention your IP address). computing.which.co.uk/hc/en-gb/articles/207097725-How-to-delete-cookies-from-your-PC that's just for a PC, I have no idea about Android devices.

True and disturbing, but if you want to sell it's a good place. 1.5 billion users. And they the are first to show up in Google searches. A rule of thumb of what can be charged advertisers is so much per potential viewer. So it's in the interests of place that carry adverts to overexaggerate the numbers. Facebook actually say they have 2.5 bill active users. But from what I have seen on there is that many people open an account, and then are not active on them. And possibly even less so now there are the likes of Instagram, etc. I suspect that some Facebook users do use Facebook a lot, and each use is counted as an active user. A person updating their page 50 times a day cannot be classed as 50 individual active users, but on the surface I bet Facebook do not differentiate. I have placed stuff on Facebook many times, to no results. Maybe it depends what you are selling. It's really the same as anywhere else. If people do not know you have a web presence, then they don't look. I have no idea what you are searching for Maggie, but in my searches Facebook is never mentioned.I had seen that number elsewhere but here is one link: www.republicworld.com/technology-news/social-media-news/data-of-1-dot-5-billion-facebook-users-found-for-sale-on-hacker-site-now-taken-down-report.html

CCleaner, by Piriform, is a great program and there is a free version (watch to unclick unwanted things on install).
It will also check/clean your registry and many other options. I've been using it since the XP days, at least.

The only reason a browser allows the deletion of History, video history and tabs, is so that other users of the same PC do not see what you have been looking at. Partners for example.

That was just the number of people who had their Facebook data stolen, not the number of accounts. So you're denying there are a lot of people on Facebook? Ok, there are very few people on Facebook and it's a bad idea to advertise there. 😉

2.5 billion people is not a lot? It's more than you said But what I am saying is that browsing through many many pages there, or using search to find certain categories, the last posting on them was often years ago, almost right back to when Facebook became public, rather than a localised 'alternative' school year book. Facebook, like many sites, no doubt counts 'hits', but many of those hits may simply be active users using it a lot, 100s of pics of their cat, or what they have just cooked, not every registered user using it. But indeed, regular users will still be a lot, but it does not mean they wish to buy what we create. It's the same as anywhere else. They will not look at specific pages, unless they are told they are there. One way is to pay Facebook for banner adverts, which people usually ignore anyway. Most people trying to promote stuff seem to use this now, anyhow en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Instagram

However, we still disagree. blog.hootsuite.com/facebook-statistics/I, myself, have bought many things from Facebook ads.

Indeed, owned by a modern day super villain, so I will also give it a miss. All he needs is a white cat.

But all the same, it's like saying a small shop sells less than a superstore, but all are still sales.
