A writer more famous now for Game of Thrones.
As the link states, it's a collection of his works, which is not an unusual type of book, but it starts with short stories he wrote for fun while at school, and onward. Some may not like his type of works, SF, F, Horror, but between the stories he tells how he tried to sell them, where to, mostly magazines at first, for how much. Some simply vanishing in the post or wherever with no backup copies! Selling to magazines that closed before his story was even published. Not owning carbon paper at first. Etc. Winning Nebula and Hugo awards and whatnot for stories he was paid very little for, so he had to work full time in 'real' jobs for a long time.
Anyway. Well worth a read just for his back story, and explanations about the stories, and what they resulted in. Often nothing.
