Facebook cannot be all that clever really. 'Because you purchased a TV you may also be interested in a cup ...' But it is true that the huge internet companies collect data they have no real need to know. But knowledge is money as it's said, and what they don't need, they sell. www.cnbc.com/2017/11/20/what-does-google-know-about-me.htmlBTW. Mozilla was once considered to be full of spyware.

Yes, Facebook is that devious. I'm thinking about strollers and the next day I see stroller ads on FB. Seriously.
AS for Mozilla, I trust them more; they are open source. Free.

The problem with anything that is free on line, they make their money from the hidden spyware imbedded in it, or even just Cookies, neither of which are often seen as a problem by PC protection. Such software can even be embedded in to images you find on line. It's a sad fact one has to accept.

I'm not accepting it. I took Benziger's advice and installed uBlock, disconnectme, ghostery, and I already had Browsec VPN, and I also added FB Container.

Bu using this site, just as one example, you have agreed to their terms and conditions.

I know, but I have blocked everything they have to offer, thanks to Benziger.

I am not sure that is possible because most scanware looks for things that are classed as malicious, and most cookies are not classed as such. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTTP_cookie

justkevin, you are right. Some cookies, etc. runs that the site function. But if you tell Firefox, he will delete them alle, when you close the browser in the evening, so they collect the next day new data with a new cooky and you are a new one-day-user.
The business model for a lot of browsers is the following: Large Internet companies (search engines that sell advertising; retailers, travel agencies, etc.) buy a place on the start page and or the bookmarks. But nobody forces you to leave it like that. You can define another page as the start page or delete the icons or replace them with others: Library, Lulu, timetable, newspaper, etc.

This Facebook Container asks me to create Containers. Is it worth the effort and research on how since I have all this other stuff. Kevin,I also have CC Cleaner, which I use several times a day.

Yes, in theory my browser deletes most things on closing.
But it's possible to get too paranoid. As long as my PC keeps running, and at the speed it should, and is not hijacked, even without my knowing, I am happy. Windows used to collect all manner of clutter. W 10 no longer seems to do so. Even Defragmenting is pointless, because it does not get fragmented.
Here's an interesting bit of paranoia, and I have no idea if it is true. There's an algorithm, so it's said, that can listen to you typing, and know what you are typing, because each key makes a very very slightly different sound when pressed (the clunks all sound the same to me!) And there people were only worried about keylogging software. Thankfully I don't have a mic on my PC.
