Some advice >> www.writersdigest.com/general/10-tips-for-effective-book-coversAlthough some of those no-nos can be seen on some top selling books. This >> businessofillustration.com/makes-good-book-cover/ is not so bullet-pointing. Here is another opinion >>> lithub.com/what-should-a-book-cover-do/There's as many opinions as there are book covers. But as I have said many times, marketing sells. If you cannot get people to even view the cover, they will never buy the book. They need to be told the book exists. Many are marketed even before they are published. Posters in book shops. Adverts in publications and on-line. Even on TV. Interview with the writer. A writer already has a website/blog etc., with 100,000s of visitors a day. Reviews. A description next to the book's thumbnail on Amazon or wherever. Have a famous name. Already be a celebrity. And so on. The days are perhaps long gone when a person is browsing in some bookshop and sees a book on a shelf (and often only the spine ...) if they can even find a bookshop.
