Happy Whichever Holiday you celebrate, though Winter is here in the Northern Hemisphere.
Once the small local water provider which services the houses out here fixes its broken pump, I get to celebrate by flushing then cleaning toilets.

Owch. We have intermittent water now, the replacement pump goes in tomorrow since the company selling them is closed today. The good news is our two 5-gallon emergency flush jugs and 1-gallon emergency drinking water jugs have been refilled. I'm aware 20 gallons for flushes would be better, but given time...
Being above the daisies is a bonus in and of itself.

That reassures me a lot, Cameron. It was a thought of you when my wife saw pictures from Buffalo on TV that reminded me of the photos of the avalanche winter of 1951 in the school books that made me come here.
Oops, Christmas is already two days away in Switzerland. We celebrate it on the evening of the 24th. I would have loved to share a few Christmas carols from the children's choir my son sings in - but photography and filming are not allowed at Christmas. More time for reflection and contemplation. Reflection on the essentials. That is also right.

Reflection on the essentials. That is also right. Ah, Buffalo, NY, where lake-effect dumps a lot of snow -- not a place where I'd willingly live. I've dealt with snow, ice, and -28.8889C [-20F] before, which is why I keep water and canned food set aside for an emergency.
We celebrated on Solstice. Our 6-y.-o. dotter was so happy Krampus didn't stop by to get her, till she found out Krampus could still make a second round due to different holidays -- she's acting a bit better as a result.
