This looks nice! Just needs the name of the site added...whatever that's going to be.

It can't be changed instantly. It involves a lot of work and I'm sure Benziger has his kids at home nowadays besides having to work. Let us all decide. As in an anonymous vote of three or four different options then wait. Until all this is over.

Indeed it does. Although the banner does not actually have to have the same name as the site address.

I think I prefer the above one, it's easier to get the text across the background without it getting lost. I did not really like the cut out look.

What's the image actually become after an upload to here? It looks a bit grainy.

I only have an 8-bit art app, but it should look better than that. Not that many can read the words, it's Latin. Do you think it matters? It's the impression?

I don't think that it matters if anyone can read the words, but it's probably important that they are recognizable letters at least, so if the resolution is low the lines of type might need to be larger.

The alternative is to open the original file using something like Inkscape, then adjust it to a far higher DPI before saving / exporting in an uploadable format.
Even if most people don't read Latin these days, as Ron hinted at recognizable letters tend to make a big difference. Your script could be Klingon, but as long a it's clear it's not a big deal.
