Really? where are they? It's got like the 'billions' on Facebook, most who have not posted for years. I looked at the user count, and the number shown was 355.
There are people who created accounts then didn't bother to delete them when they had no desire to continue posting, if they ever did.
Then there are the disabled accounts due to spam.
What's left is a smaller number of people who still post when they have reason.
Where are they? Those who are still alive are living their lives.

Disabled accounts? Can they not just be closed? And I am sure, like you, I also live my life

Disabled accounts? Can they not just be closed? And I am sure, like you, I also live my life The way the software works behind the boards [at least for moderators] is we can disable an account, not completely delete it.

I wonder why? How many accounts are actually disabled? There's a lot of spam gets posted here! It's often all that is.

When Lulu did their system "upgrade" a few years ago, there was a flurry of new members who arrived simply to vent frustration and / or find answers. That furor seems to have died off and the parties lost interest and lipped away.
EDIT to add: It is generally only 1 to 10 percent of active members on any given forum site that will ever make a post. Yes, it's a snoozer around here, but not atypical for this few (300 - odd) members.

Better to be in a bit of snoozer than feeling like being stuck in an asylum run by the inmates.

Aye, having been stuck in the asylum [run by the inmates] a few times, I tend to react accordingly.
Easier to deal with a few acting inappropriately than many.

All the spammers do is open another account. Some sites manage to block IPs.

Plus, there are other forms of entertainment, meaning no need to laugh at something someone may not be able to help doing.
