New to the Lulu printing feature. Using Affinity with the Lulu template for a US Letter Softcover.
All documentation states to submit your interior as one PDF file and you covers as a separate PDF. BUT... the template includes the front cover and back cover.
When creating the interior PDF, do I just ignore those pages and print PAGE 2 TO (Total PAGES-1), or am I supposed to include those two pages and the system knows not to screw up my print job?
Any clarification is helpful. Thanks.

I haven't used the Lulu templates, but I do know that the book interior stands alone as its own file. The cover is a separate file. My covers have all been done as a single file (front, spine, and back as one image) converted to PDF.

I too have not used even Lulu for a while, and have never used their templates, they are not very helpful for people not used to them, it's best to learn how to create your own. But for pages, I just create a Word docx to the size required, such as A5. Save As a PDF, and upload that when the Wizard prompts for it. I recall that Lulu's Wizards would even convert a PDF in to a PDF! That file is given a code. I also only used Lulu's 'normal' Cover Wizard. I create two jpgs to the same size as the pages, complete with text, one for the front and one for the back, dragging them in to the relevant frames, ignoring the default boxes, but deleting the auto-placed text, then adjusting the spine colour and text to match. The Wizard turns that in to a PDF and creates a code for that, and the two codes are linked so the correct pages end up in the correct cover, is that not the one still in use? I never used the One Piece Cover Wizard, not wanting a dustjacket etc.

The cover has never counted in the number of pages of a book. The numbering of the interior begins at number 1, even if you make the page number visible at the bottom of the first page of the first chapter. The total number of pages should be divisible by 4. The last page should be left blank for the printed to leave its code on it.

The 'simple' Cover Wizard, the old 'new' one, must have worked out how wide the spine needs to be according to the number of pages uploaded, because I never told it!

Page count is not the same as page numbering. Front Matter pages are traditionally not numbered, and 'page 1' normally does start when the story, or whatever, starts. Indeed they have to be divisible by four due to the way the printer slices up the printed sheets. But for hardback at least three blank pages are needed at each end because the front and rear cover are stuck to some of them, becoming part of the hard cover.

You should send two PDFs - one for the interior of your book and another one for your cover.
